Faults?? Faults?? Burn the heretic.

Be at peace my son, thine instrument will surely be without fault.

Welcome to the forum!!!

Well, try the guitar, that's all I can tell you. EBMM guitars are high quality products and there are no common faults!!!
That, of course, doesn't mean that faults never occur, but it's really rare!

Whats up with the weird guy?

Also EBMMs are pretty fault free. I wouldn't worry. Be sure to post pics. I'm considering that exact configuration.

Allow me to inform you of what to look for. When you removed the guitar from the case you'll immediately notice the incredible beauty of the instrument. That will however, pale in comparison to how it will play once you strap it on. EBMM makes the finest electric guitars in the world.

My main guitar used to be a pre-mass production PRS. It was one of the really nice hand made units. It was my main axe for about 10 years until I bought my first and only Axis. It's my only Axis because I can't imagine wanting to play any other guitar even though I own several others. I'm getting ready to buy a new JP so that I can take advantage of the acoustic saddles and the non locking trem.

What it all boils down to is, be on the look out for the finest guitar you've ever played. It won't disappoint you. NOBODY builds a finer guitar than EBMM.

ebmm has aweosm QC. rest assumer that your guitar left the factory cosmetically perfect and 100% functional per the design of the guitar :)

but of course make sure everything's cool just cause its gone through a few shipping depots and trucks

Welcome JW, The only thing to look out for is the best damn guitar ever made! You will love it, and the only fault you will find with it is the fact that you didn't buy one sooner. Nice choice of color by the way. Enjoy!

Only thing I've noticed over the years with EB/MM guitars is that after a while of hanging in shops, some of them tend to have a bit of fret-sprout. I suppose due to the unfinished neck and lack of care by the staff. Nothing that won't correct itself, but it can leave someone with the wrong impression.

Otherwise, there should be nothing to look out for. Though, some shops, at least around here, try to bump the price up if you want the case too. They will try to claim it's not included.

This is such a non issue. ANY guitar can get fret sprout. In the 4 years or so that I have been doing repairs for EB/MM I have seen maybe 3 or 4 guitars that have had fret sprout.

Do you think that has anything to do with your location in the desert? You don't really have the humidity swings that other areas of the country do. I live in Minnesota and we go from bone dry in the winter to nice 90% humidity come the 4th of July through Spetember. Almost all of my guitars have experienced fret sprout during the winter and into late spring when the humidity rises, UNLESS I go to great lengths to really over humidify the room they're in.

Now, the sprouting isn't bad, but it is noticeable nonetheless. The only guitar this has never happened to is my JP, and I don't know why. I've had two EVHs, an Axis, and AL that have all had sprout and even my new 20th has a bit (probably from being in a very very dry GC for almost a year!). But I don't do anything extra besides the lemon oil 3-4 time a year - and then the minor sprout goes away by mid-June or so. Not trying to pick a fight Jon, but I think that geography (and in particular, large humidity changes) can effect the occurrence of fret sprout. But I could be wrong.
