Thanks, Rob. And that's why I asked - I never liked the feel of grainy or sticky texture picks in contact with strings. Think I'll stick with J3's black.

Since on the top-pick (groan), anyone else use the carpet to smooth out points? Just a couple swipes on a carpet renews the tip and removes burrs and sharp edges.

Well, the Ultex isn't really sticky. There's just something about it that gives it a little bit more of a easy-to-grip texture. Personally, I don't know if it's really that much easier for me to grip it. I think it's a bit "snappier" than the Black J3 in terms of tone. So, I'm kind of just using the Ultex as a change of pace.

I like the green ones (88's) It's 3, 3, 3 picks in one.

Thank You!

Good Night!

I am currently using dunlop picks, either the delrin 1.14mm or 1mm tortex ones. I have no idea how people use those Jazz III ones. They are just far too small! One powerchord and it flies out of my hand!

I've always changed my grip as I played. For chords I tend to do the Steve Morse thumb, index & middle fingers on the pick bit for a better grip, wheres for most picking I use the standard thum & index finger approach. Sometimes I'll even angle the pick upward.

I found that loosening my grip prevented that.

I tend to use the Dunlop Tortex sharps (green). But I've been giving the Ultex Jazz III a try along with the Red Jazz III XL. Digging the Ultex. Ever since I started playing the sharps other picks don't feel right. I can't feel the string as well and the rounded tips have less attack. The JIII's have a point so they still feel comfy to me.

I use Clayton Acetels in .63 for most stuff. For really heavy stuff I use either a Fender Heavy or a heavy Tortex. I also use Fender Lights for acoustic or for the piezo pickups on my JP.
