I looked at this Music Man pickup on eBay.

Do they all come with the magnets level to the pickup black plastic thing? (i guess you could say 'body'?) I remember my Stingray came with the E and G string magnets slightly raised and the A and D raised a lot.

The key word there was Music Man "style" pick up...not the real thing.

Whoops. My bad.

But is there be a way to adjust the heights of the magnets on a MM pickup?

I was just wondering. I've noticed some MM basses' pickup magnets are different.

StingRay pickup

Does anyone know about Bartolini replacement pickup(s) for a StingRay 4 string bass? Do I have to buy the Bartolini preamp that goes inside too?

No you dont have to buy the preamp. Bartolini makes different types MM4 pickups, brighter and deeper sounds.

I read in EB forum that the bart sound with little less output but with more mid range growl.
Ihave bart in a lakland 44-02 and sound great.

Check the bart web site, they have all the info there and also call the supplier phone number posted on the web, he can explain and answer every questions you have.

good luck !!
