So, if I do the treble bleed mod, will it change my guitar's tone with volume on 10 or only when I reduce the volume? Can I make it with a push-pull controller so the treble bleed optional (like on the Ibanez Satriani signatures)? In any case I'm not sure I want a screwdriver too close to my guitar yet :p only allen wrenches for me.

I don't know, have never tried the mod. I like losing a little treble when I roll off. The discussion link covers some pros and cons.

Hey Bruce and Rafael, no problem at all! Just doing my little part here. :D

Yo Rafael, I think the treble bleed mod, which requires you to solder a cap at the volume pot, gives you a smoother taper of the volume range and retain the highs as you turn the volume down. It will not affect your guitar tone at 10. My opinion.

I am actually toying with this idea:

To employ a concentric tone pot for a HSS config on a Silo, with a resistor soldered at the upper tier to bring down resistance from 500k to 250k for the single coils, the lower tier with no resistor to maintain a 500k for the humbucker. In this case, I will have a 2-in-1 tone pot, and I need not custom a new pickguard for this option. Wonder if its workable..

Here's the pot, something similar to what beej used for his piezo morse:

Jimmy, so that's not a push/pull then, just two stacked knobs/pots? That's kinda interesting. Let us know how it works out if you decide to go with it, and if there's any snags. Only thing, I'd wait and try it before adding the treble bleed cap, just to know what's doing what. There's also been some negative feedback on the t.b. mod from some.

Also, what about split position 2? Would both volume knobs/pots be employed? If so, you should be able to roll them off separately, which would be pretty cool.

Really curious now.

Haha. Hey Bruce, personally I find it quite interesting too. Gundar proposed a push/pull pot earlier. Well I think his suggestion was to split the humbuckers into split-coil mode to acquire a "near-SSS" option. My idea, however, was to provide a "2-in-1 tone pot" to optimise the exisiting pickups' tone found on the HSS Silo, by providing different resistance suited for the respective SC & HB. (I believe Tom Anderson achieve this with mini-toggles - correct me if I'm wrong.)

Yup, I believe you can employ a stacked volume pot to to split the HB too. But that will be one hell of a wiring work! :D
