So today I stopped by my local music hangout and spent some time with an Axis or two and noticed the bridge pickup height difference between the Axis and ASS. I guess I never really noticed before since I never really played an Axis for more than a minute (I'm not really a Floyd kinda guy). I can't tell, but are the pickups mounted on a plastic base that is then mounted to the body? If so has anyone tried putting an Axis base in an ASS? I have to admit, I'm intrigued after reading through some old threads about pickup height contributing to the sound differences between the Axis and ASS (no matter how minor the change may be). I love my ASS, but I'd also love to be able to get a little extra "oomph" out of it ;) Has anyone followed through with raising the bridge pickup in their ASS?

By the way, this was one of the Axis' I played:

All I can say is HOLY COW!! :D Someone needs to buy this guitar because, seriously, I'm going to come up with some crazy scheme to convince my wife that it literally fell out of the sky and into my lap, making me destined to own it. That is, until she sees the credit card bill  and then I'm in the doghouse :( for a loooong time :( :( :( I have been totally blown away by the playability of my Balls, but this one is something very special. Even if it has a Floyd....

I have an EVH Hardtail and the bridge PUP is definitly closer to the string.

On one of my ASS (the honeyburst with Piezo) both PUPs are raised a little with some platic pearls, try that little mod on yours and it may change completly your sound.

Now that being said, the BFR got that MTB, that will surely make another difference
