Hey guys....let me start by saying that the Axis SS I bought a couple weeks ago is still treating me VERY well. I'm only loving it more every day. I dropped off some film today to get put onto a picture disk and I will pick it up when I get back from my thanksgiving mini-vacation and there will be many very nice pictures posted then. The only thing I'm currently having an issue with is some nut-binding on the G string when I use the whammy and the same thing (to a much lesser extent) with the B. I'll take some graphite to it when I change strings, but what it tells me is that I'm going to need to get the nut filed before I up the guage to 10's (which I've planning on and NEED to do soon). Other than that I love the thing. I've had teachers and classmates compliment me on both the looks and how good it sounds.
On to my question(s).....have any of you changed the pickups in your SuperSports? I'm almost positive the neck pickup is what I want (I've got a gig coming up where I'll be able to really open up my amp and decide), but the bridge pickup isn't quite there. It's got just a tiny bit too much bite for my tastes....I suspect that what I'm looking for is something that's voiced similarly (maybe just a tiny bit more mid-heavy) but with a little less output. I'm thinking of trying out a Breed. While I'm on the subject, what stock models are the custom dimarzio's most similar to? Knowing where I'm starting from will surely help a bit.
And another question, for those of you with Silhouettes, how do you have the height set on each of your pickups? I've got an HSH guitar (a Jem) that I still use a lot (admittedly not as much as the Axis since I've had it) and I'm toying with different pickup heights to try to optimize the switching capabilities. I realize they are different beasts all together, but it never hurts to try new things.
