Hi all

I've been wanting to swap the electronics on my LUKE for ages and finally got around to it.

I got my tech to do this for me. He said it was a bit tricky but nothing too drastic.

Firstly, we had to choose pickups that don't have the wings/flanges on the side due to not wanting to alter the routing of the timber.. we wanted ones that would slide straight in.

So - we went with the following;
Neck - Seymour Duncan Little '59
Mid - Seymour Duncan Custom (with a non-seymour pickup cover as seymour didn't have black cover to suit!)
Bridge - Seymour Duncan JB

Swapping to passive meant changing out pots, and the jack and switch also got replaced.

We installed a push/pull tone pot, and each pickup is split to single coil when the pot is pulled up.

He said he had a little trouble getting the neck pickup installed - and had to do a very small amount of shaving/routing inside the cavity in order to get a little extra space for leverage of the pickup cables. But it's internal/under the pickup, so no issue.

Haven't tried at a gig yet but a quick fiddle at home - it's fantastic. So much better and FAR more versatile than the original EMG's..

Interesting. Compared with my other H-S-H, SSS and HSS guitars, the Luke EMGs are me thinks more versatile :). From country to funk to blues to rock to metal.

I've yet to encounter a pickup that's as versatile as an EMG. It's that slightly compressed feel that is so forgiving to the player, lets you get away with all sorts of styles seamlessly.
