I read most of the topic again. If you like modern sounds, tight singing leads and jazzy cleans, you seem to be asking for the JP set: Crunch Lab in bridge and LiquiFire in neck. About the single coil: If you're using 500k pots, which is the recommendation for humbucker, you'll want a darker than usual single coil to not get overly bright. I would try some of the louder, darker options DiMarzio offer like the Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues 2, the Chopper, or the Virtual Solo, in that order.

+1....to get the true power of the D-Sonic/CrunchLab, you'd need to change the 250k pots to 500k and find the single coil middle PU to go with it (or a SC-sized HB).

Do a little search around here, there's quite some info about JP's PUs in a Silo.

I'm not much for neck-HBs mostly (hence my HSS Silo) but if I had to I would have no problem putting in a Air Norton. I really REALLY like that neck-tone. Fat, punchy, both clean and high-gain.

If I was to install a HSH-pickguard I would probably choose an EMG 89-SA-89R combo with EXP- and SPC-controls though. Summum of versatility IMHO (splitting the 89's with push-pulls) and works wonders for FX-heavy setups.

EDIT: just saw EMG makes an 81TW (splittable) HB now, looks promising for those that prefer all out metal mayhem instead of the "85-ish" 89 in HB-mode.

Hey guys, thanks so far.

I kinda like the idea of the d-sonic or crunchlab. I just hope they're not too hot for me. I actually think some sort of a "hot rodded PAF" will do the trick for me... and I'm not sure, if the d-sonic and crunclab will match with this...

the air norton in the neck might be a bit too muffled for my taste I guess, don't you think? I mean, the Silo has an alder body which generally makes it sound a little darker, huh? however, mine has a maple neck/fretboard, too...

I'm not even sure, what kinda pots i have in my silo, if they're 250k's or 500k's... The aspect with the darker sounding single coils, however, sound plausible to me, though.

And honestly, I'm one of the "dislikers" of EMG pups :D

To each their own

What I hate about EMGs
Now I have to put EMGs in my guitars cause I really want that kind of sound
I have to change the battery every year or so. Even in my piezo equipped SiLOs.

I genuinely hope you are able to find the sound you want with your SiLO and above all else to thine own self be true.

Well Folks,
I mean the good point about EMGs is definitely the matter of fact that they're almost noise free. But nevertheless I just don't like active pick-ups..

Any experiences with lace sensors, for example?

ive Heard Silver Lace and Gold Lace both in strat they sound great but the gold are better plus beck and clappo used to just them :p the fender lace sensors i think sound better then the lace lace sensors, there like half active cos they use different magnets so u can get them closer to the strings for more output and tone and no batterys needed
