hello i play pretty heavy music alot of distortion and it seems like my music man sub1 is lacking on the chugs!!!! (palm mutes) I was wondering if anyone else is experincing this?

anyway what are some good pickups i should look into?

Should i just replace pickup by tremolo?

I love this guitar but my jackson seems alot beter in the low end with alot of distortion and that has emg pickups. I just want this to be on the same level, I dont know if they made this guitar for heavy style music it does have 2 humbuckers but to me they seem like there lacking for my style music!!!

I bought a sub 1 HH about a month and a half ago and I play in several local metal bands as well as do alot of prog/jazz stuff and this guitar has covered it all better than I could have ever expected it to. I like the pickups alot, very clear tone, everything really cuts through without having excessive treble. Also what kinda amp do you use with it?, I use a Mesa Triple Recto live, and old marshalls in the studio, and the tone comes off great with both those combos.

It's all about balance bro. You are putting more stress on the bridge by laying on those heavier strings...so you need to tighten the screws that hold the claw, which attaches your trem springs to the block...and it should be flat, resting on the body

One thing i've noticed about the sub pickups is that they sound great with alot of mid range, and a little less distortion than ushual, it gives a very clear yet heavy tone. Though in general even though I play in a melodic death metal band we use very little distortion, cause to much just makes things to muddy.
