it's true. matching headstocks do scare me :) but I play that up, obviously. it's a preference, not a mandate. since these only come with matching HS, then that's just how it is and there's no way i'll forgo the opportunity to have such a badass guitar based on a cosmetic preference.

also - ever since I got my BFR Sterling i've relaxed on my matching HS fear. now I have 3 MM's with matching headstock :)

Phatty are you still enjoying it?

oh hell ya. this thing rocks dude. i really love it.

LOL. no invasion of privacy man. all my pics are open to the public. So long story short I love all that crypozoology stuff: bigfoot, loch ness etc. I watch anything on tv about that kind of stuff and my last ex used to laugh at me all the time. so come xmas time she made me a little diarama thing with a bigfoot type creature dressed up as santa. pretty rad actually

OK - the review. This guitar is awesome! no bs. it is all that. the hype is true.

here's my experience and why I love this thing.

a couple facts first:
my axis sport was my fav MM
I have an 08 LP with chambered body and i dig the chambering
I really dig PRS McCarty guitars and they have series parallel switch

so for me... this guitar has the features I've grown to love in a guitar.

locking tuners: check
chambered body: check
oil and wax neck: check
maple top: check
series parallel switch: check
5 way switch (as opposed to the normal 3 way on an HH): check
MM quality: check
stays in tune: check
axis inspired body: check (as a bonus its a bit bigger which im loving)
mahog tone block: check

so even ignoring the fact the guitar is a looker it has features I really, really like.

To me the chambering is key. there's more ring to it. I play it unplugged and it still sings. might be an underappreciated feature... sure it reduces weight but to me the tonal implications are where the chambering really shines.

the switching is very fun. the series/parallel switch has a noticeable, appreciable and very usable tonal difference. you could even use it as a quick-flick-of-the-finger volume boost.

The tone knob has a great effect as well. i find myself using it quite a lot which is new for me. generally I dont use the tone knob on a guitar much/ever but here ive found a new ground (for me)

the neck's obviously comfy and great. i believe its a silo neck. i have 2 of those so im right at home here. + on a selfish level i like that its not an axis shaped neck... it gives me more ammo to justify having yet another axe :)

and yes its pretty as hell. obviously that's a bonus. personally I got for comfort and playability first but since they've nailed those some prettiness is just icing on the cake.

seeing Luke play it was sealed the deal. LOL but that's obvious.

anywho... this is a badass guitar. and instant classic and, to me, an instant favorite

Thanks for the review, and congrats! That makes me feel good about my purchase. I just got the call from my local dealer that mine shipped out from SLO on Friday last week, so she should be here around Thursday or so...yee-ha! :D :D :D

I'll echo what's already been said about the 25th. It really has its own sound and is a lot of fun to play.

Nice guitar! The neck is indeed a Silo neck, but with a 12" radius fretboard. How are you liking the pickups? That's the only part of the guitar I'm not sold on, I'm not a fan of the EVH/Axis tone  yes I'm weird. I haven't played one, I'm just judging by other's videos/demos/etc

I like the pickups. they work just fine for me. but in all honesty pickups are always the least of my worries in a guitar since they're the easiest thing to change.
