Sorry I didn't polish them first and I'm not a great picture taker. But I know if you don't post pics then they don't exist, so I wanted to throw some up here. :D

I've had the Axis SS most of the year. Just got the Luke a few weeks ago - and loving it, never thought I would be an "EMG guy". After years of overpriced underperforming guitars from other unnamed manufacturers, I'm a confirmed EBMM convert!

Questions for the experts: There is a date on the Luke's shipping box, is that the born on date for the guitar? I thought I read that here. I've been a long time lurker, drooling over all the pics, so I want to say thanks to everybody for posting them. And of course thanks to EBMM for making the best guitars and basses in the world.

David you could post your serial numbers on the serial numbers sticky and someone from customer service would probably get back to you next week with their birth dates.

Thanks. Well they are quite different. I have been thinking about this a lot since I got the Luke. Obviously, the ASS is more like a Tele on steroids and Luke is more superstrat, and although they have general great quality construction in common, there are lots of little differences.

Both have fairly narrow necks, but the ASS has smaller frets, more rounded radius on fretboard, and the assymetrical back. That makes it harder to play for me than the flatter radius Luke. The Luke is also way more comfortable to play IMO, although it is a little heavier than the ASS the weight distribution feels better to me. The ASS is twangier and really lives up to the tele/paul thing. That might be because of the hardtail too though. I prefer the maple backed neck to the rosewood, feels a little faster.

I love, love, love the sound of the ASS. The pickups are amazing, great clean to rock. It is more vintage-y imo. But the all out sportscar-ness of the Luke has won me over. It feels, looks, plays, and sounds 200mph. I have never had a floating trem or EMGs, but I am loving both. The EMG pups are dead quiet and I can get sounds from vintage blues with the single coils to metal with the humbucker.

Will do. Thanks!

Also I want to say I was very lucky in that Guitar Center had just gotten in a large shipment of EBMM's and I was able to try many different models, some that I had never played before, when I bought my Luke. It was really cool try an Albert Lee next to 3 different Lukes and 3 JPs, etc. I was surprised that the AL's neck was kinda fat. And the JP is a shred/rock/metal monster! But the Candy Red Luke "spoke" to me. I know I was lucky that day to choose the "best" one among them. They were all awesome that day. I can see how all the models have their fans. They really do make a model for everybody.

Glad you got to try out an AL. It's kinda strange to hear you say that the neck felt fat. I have small hands and find the AL neck to be just perfect for me- I guess it's all down to your body mechanics - size of webbing on thumb etc.
I'll have to try a Luke one day !!
I'm off working in Liverpool next week and hope to get around some guitar stores to try a Luke.

It was a Limited Edition AL. Yeah I have kinda big hands but not big fingers, if that makes sense. I guess I shouldn't say the AL neck was fat, just chunkier than I expected. And the body was a little bigger than I expected. For me there was nothing like really getting my hands on them and comparing. So hard to explain in words.

Try a Luke if you get the chance, they are sweet machines. Some people don't like the shape, but I took to the V backed neck like a duck to water. Just like most people here, I'd like to have four each of all the models, but I think the Luke is going to be my main baby.

REALLY nice guitars there man! I'm absolutely no EMG man myself, but somehow they seem to make sense in the Luke. Whilst I've always loved the aesthetics and tone of the Axis (and hope to own one, one day), the ergonomics have never 100% agreed with me - being the Strat guy that I am, the body edges are simply to sharp for my liking. Great guitar combo with lots of versatility from two axes!

Cheers

David, nice guitars man!!! Yah the date on the box should be the born on date.

We just had a bash in Dallas over the 11/03-11/05 and GC seemed to have brought in a truck load of instruments. We made a trip to one of the GC's and they had the most I've ever seen at a GC.

Thanks, gents!:)

Yes I knew about the shindig in Dallas from being a lurker, but I wasn't a forum member then so sadly didn't attend. Saw the pics though and it looks like a great time was had by all.
