The Stingray was always my favourite bass but i always thought it was out of my financial reach thinking that all lefties were alot more expensive, i was actually going for a P-Bass which was about £300 cheaper. I was playing the P-bass when the 'Ray, which was looking cool hanging on the wall, called out to me...i had to have it so a quick visit to the bank manager sorted it! The best investment ever! I can see the same thing happening when the Bongo arrives!

Fender are strange, they do a left handed P-Bass but don't do a left handed Jazz!! You have to go to the Custom Shop to get one. Left-handism i think!!

FYI The Black one on the top right is a silhouette bass guitar. If I had a better digital camera you could tell that it is actually pearl purple (color discontinued). A cool description of all these axes can be found on the guitar fourm entitled Steve and the Silhouette's

You should like this one norm

http://a7.cpimg.com/image/8D/DB/22584717-3c16-020000B5-.jpg

Saw it on ebay some time ago now. The owner claims it to be only one of two with the Rosewood....May 2000.

Re your Silhouette Bass...I had previously recorded the serial as G607272...no wonder EB didn't have it on there data base when I was searching for the born-on date.

(P.S. you'll have to do a close-up :D ).

Skunkhour are one of Australia's best bands! Dean was the first MM player I saw, and their show at Tas Uni in 1997 is still the finest live show Ive seen. They are one of my favourite bands, with big thick grooves. Check out Chin Chin (Sony) if you can find it. Sadly they broke up in 2001, after releasing The Go.

Here is a pic of Dean playing his black MMSR5. He also had a a purple fretless from memory.

Back to the original thread, these pics are just blowing me away! Makes my MMSR5 like dull by comparison!

By the way, I was told by the guys at Ernie Ball Australia that this was one of the last burnt apples made - does anyone know if its true if burnt apple has been discontinued?

I Forgot I had this This is Dave Larue with the Dixie Dregs and the Bongo Bass. This was at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano in Feb 2003 at the time of the NAMM show in California. I belive this was the first time a Bongo had been played in public. Sorry the picture is a little dark.
