All my recording work is done through amp sims - I use S Gear, the Nembrini Marshall and Soldano sims, and the Waves PRS Supermodels mainly, and often use dedicated IR’s from the likes of Ownhammer.

Now with my new JP6 I have access to a piezo for the first time, and have started experimenting with software amp simulations appropriate to that pickup - any tips on how you guys amp up a piezo in the virtual world would be much appreciated.

If you're looking to get close to the sound of an acoustic, there are some amazing IR's out there. I use the Martin 45 from Sigma 3: Acoustic Guitar Impulses - 3 Sigma Audio

There's also a free Taylor IR floating around the web.

I don't use any amp when running an acoustic patch on my Line6 HX Stomp, just a studio preamp, the IR and some effects. Sounds great!

Excellent tip - I had a look and a listen to the acoustic IRs on the Sigma 3 site, and decided to go for the Martin 45 as well. The resulting tones are superb, maybe not exactly like an acoustic guitar, but for me that's not a bad thing because it is something new - if I want a mic'd up acoustic in the studio, I can use my acoustic guitar.

The next stage for me is combining the piezo with a complementary magnetic pickup patch. Using both jacks on the guitar, I can send the piezo to the left channel and the magnetic to the right, play with panning...again, any tips to produce awesome combined pickup sounds like this would be welcomed.
