I would like to fit my Albert Lee with the standard tremolo with a piezo system for some acoustic sounds. Does anybody knows if there is a kind of spare-part-kit from MM available or would it be possible to fit the fantastic standard trem with f.e. fishman saddles & electronic?

Hi Roland,

No, unfortunately you can't buy a piezo kit for retrofit.

There are aftermarket piezo systems you can put on (I've done it), though to be honest it's not worth the expense of doing so. If you really want one, you're best bet is to flip your guitar for one that has the factory piezo installed. It'll sound better, and you're guitar will have a higher resale value than if you'd done it yourself.

That said, installing one of the available systems (Fishaman, Graph Tech, Baggs, etc.) isn't rocket science you can certainly do it. I'd installed the Graph Tech system when I did mine, but only b/c the Morse guitar didn't have it as an option.

Welcome aboard fellow german AL enthusiast...listen to beej's advice, he knows what he's talking about. To avoid disappointment I'd either flip guitars or better yet hang on to the SSS Albert and get another one with the piezo option (and prob. MM90's for a change).

Oh and while I'm at it...be sure to post some pics of your beauty! :)

Guten Tag, Roland!

You have a great guitar. If I were you, I'd keep it and save for the MM90 version that has a piezo. I have one and it is fantastic. Of all the guitars that I have played with a piezo pickup, the Music Man guitars get much much closer to an amplified acoustic sound. Their system is much warmer than any other I've heard. It's definitely worth it to save to one of their factory installed piezo systems.

Welcome onboard. I'd go with Beej on this one.

Possibly get an MM90 with Piezo and that way you will have covered all bases with theAl - apart from the Humber Al of course.

I love the Piezo on mine and wouldn't be without it.
