Piezo not working on my new Pet..??

I just got my shiny new carbon blue 6-string Petrucci, & the piezo pickup doesn't seem to be working. :(

Here's what I did -- plugged a standard mono cable into the piezo/mono output, flipped the mode switch to piezo only, turned the piezo volume all the way up, even fiddled with the mix pot in the back... and I tried swapping the battery as well. No sound at all. :confused:

The magnetic pickups work perfectly fine.

Any ideas???

Aside for that the guitar is totally awesome! (though I don't need to tell you guys that since I'm sure half of you own one!).

Nope... mono cable plugged into piezo/mono output, mode switch in the middle, piezo volume all the way up... as I turn down the magnetic volume, everything goes silent.
 
Jongitarz (repair extrodinaire) will probably tell you to contact someone at eb to get an authorization # to send it back in. so he can diagnose and fix.

Might have to wait til Monday so he sees your post/problem.
 
Someone has reported a similar problem recently. did you lower the strings via the saddles? If there's not enough pressurem there will be no sound.... If not, yeah... Return Auth time.
 
You said you put a new battery in...Check the contact points in the battery box. Some batteries are different sizes, and if one is a bit longer, it could have bent the contacts. Make sure the battery slides in easily. I have noticed that different brands of batteries are different sizes.

If that doesn't work, give customer service a call. They will issue a return authorization number so you can send it in.

Thanks for your help & suggestions. Checked that, doesn't seem to be the issue... One thing I did notice is that when there's a battery in, I hear some faint noise on piezo mode -- vs. no noise when there's no battery. Not sure if that really means anything. Also popped open the back and there weren't any obvious loose dangly wires, everything seemed to be soldered in place.

Oh well, guess I'll likely be shipping it off. And we had so little time to get to know each other!

On the bright side, it does seem that I'm going to like this guitar, once I get that fixed & once I get it setup for .09's... it's my first EB and, aside for the piezo issue, it does seem to be substantially better made that my similarly-priced guitar from a certain Japanese manufacturer.
 
Call 1 866 823-2255 for that return authorization number. And I promise I will turn it around as fast as I can.

this might sound weird... but did you put the battery in the right direction? I had a friend who owns a Sterling BAss who put the battery in backwards and it acted like the pickups were dead. YOu might want to check that too...
 
Check the connections on solder joint of the 9V Battery Holder.
My guess a connection is loose.
