I've got an SSS Silouette Special w/piezo on order and I had a question that I couldn't find the answer to on the site.

My plan is to plug the piezo output into a PA, but I'm worried about impedance problems and the notorious harsh sounds that result.

Do EB piezo guitars have a built-in preamp, or will I need to use an external preamp?

Thanks in advance.

I plug mine straight into the PA and use the volume knob on the guitar for mixing. My board has some effects built in so I add a light chours and reverb.

No impeadance matching or harshness problems here. Just great sound

I run my piezo signal out to a direct box and then into the PA. No issues, sounds killer.

Thanks, y'all. By notorious harsh sounds, I was not referring to the EB piezo system but others I've heard that were not equipped with preamps. I've since heard from a few other folks that the EBs sound fantastic. One friend compared an Axis piezo to a Parker and he said he's going to sell his Parker.
