Does anyone own and have opinions on a Stingray 5H with a Piezo PU. Is it worth getting or just stay with the standard 3 band EQ and coil tap?
I'm thinking of getting a Stingray 5H Frettless Lined. The only thing is I wish they offered the option for an Ebony fingerboard instead of Pau Ferro. I thing with an Ebony board (Frettless), that thing will sing.
Any opinions??????????

Speaking in general terms, piezo with fretless = good.

Haven't had the pleasure of playing a piezo-equipped fretless EBMM product, but I have owned piezo-equipped fretless basses in the past. If (when) I get a fretless EBMM, it will definitely have one.

piezo on fretless will let you get some more 'acoustic' like tones. I'd definitely go for it. The combo of the SR5 pickup and piezo should be awesome.

pau-ferro is a great fingerboard wood btw, very dense and smooth -- it's not black, but it's a lot more like ebony than rosewood.

I really enjoy blending the piezo with the mags on my fretless Sterling. I can't decide which I like better. One thing I think:
EBMM Super slinky's for mwah
Flats for piezo acoustic tone

To me the mwah is more important.

H/Piezo fretless was my first SR5, and is the only possible version of a 20th SR5 that could overcome my apathy about anniversary models.

The SR5 H/P fretted and fretless are fine solid body electric basses with their own unique voices - I'm hooked - I can't imagine an SR5 (or any MMbass) without piezo

While I often substitute them for an acoustic bass, I don't expect them to sound like one - I also use standup acoustic bass and electro-acoustic bass guitar depending on the music.
