Look what I catched up today. It is from ebay. DOB: Jul 13, 1994
Feels, plays and sounds like a dream. It has an almost perfect setup, though it´s 14 years old.

You ALiens tell the truth when you praise them. I did bond with it within seconds! I love this chunky neck.

Only the fretboard needs a cleaning. Is it correct, that some of you use 00-steelwool for such an operation? Will this work without any damages to frets?

Finally I´d like to make an application to the ALOC. Where do I get the ring and the secret handshake and all those things?

The ring/handbook and meeting agendawill be shipped over within the week ;)

Congrats on a great looking guitar.

Chunky neck? - I don't find my AL's chunky - quite the opposite.

I wonder if the neck profile was different in '94?

ALiens don't lie when they talk bALls(except to their wives "do I want another guitar dear? - no of course not !!")

Wooo hoooo !

Steffen did it !!!

What a cool old classic AL. She's a real beauty !!!

Steffen, be careful with the steel wool when cleaning the fretboard. I'd say soak the fretboard for a few minutes in lemo-oil, then wipe and rub that off and see what it does. Applying even 0000/00000 stell wool always is a little tricky and you have to tape around alot. I got the old grime outta my maple fretboards real well with the oil.

...now go and play that thang a li'l more before cleaning it up ;) :D

Cheers

Axel

....oh, and then - sell it to me

Use 0000 steel wool, if you use 00 you will scratch it all up.

Ok, one more question. I read that most of you tape the body at the neck joint and the pickups. Using 0000 steel wool - will I have to tape the frets? Will 0000 SW damage them or can I wipe them with the steel wool too???

Thanx

Tape the pickups because there will be lots of steel wool dust and it likes magnets, dont worry about the frets though!

Better still for this job - remove the neck!

Thank you!

Removing the neck is not necssary. Te dirt and grime is mainly between the frets. The back of the neck is ok.
