I decided to try some black knobs and covers on my AL to give it more contrast - what do you think?

AFTER:

AND, in case anyone is curious and does not want to make the same mistake I did, the pickup covers on the AL are vintage sized - not modern!

ALSO, as long as I have you all here, if like me, you have an amp/cab with a darker character and want to get more "sparkle" on your cleans, do what I did and pick up a used one of these (best pedal I've ever owned - and that's saying a lot!):

I use it so the volume of the pedal is just a hair above unity on my amp. The noticeable tone difference is really spectacular! :)

Sweet transformation, it looks great.

I love the contrast the black covers give with the white guard, that's why I was glad the MM90's came with black covers

I liked the original white covers better. Not that the black ones look bad, the white just looks better to me. Either way, I'll bet it sounds sweet!

I like the black, nice contrast.

I changed out the pickguard, covers and knobs on my AL too. I need to get some new pictures of it though. The all white just looked too sterile.

I went waaaaay out there and ordered a mint green pickguard with cream p/u covers and knobs.

I'll have to check out that pedal when I get chance. I love the names of some of the pedals out there...

I think the white pickguard itself is a little harsh on the eyes.
The black or white knobs don't really do anything to offset it.
If it were my guitar, I'd see about a Tori-shell guard. Blend or contrast? Sounds like a decor choice to me! :p

Any of you guys who swapped out your AL pickguard interested in selling the original pick guard? Thanks.

Color is always subjective to the viewer but, since you asked, I'm with Shnook here. I do prefer the black to the white pups in this circumstance because they go well with the dark outside of the burst. But I think the plain white guard is a little too stark for the overall look.

Now - if you tort that baby out with the black accoutrements- mmmmmmm thats good jam.;)

I got the white covers with the white pick guard - what do you call it ? Ya know, the one you pay extra for. White something or other!!!

I like the the black/black

I also like the idea of a tort - infact there's not much that I don't like on an AL.

In all honesty, nope, the black knobs and covers on a stark white guard just doesn't do it for me. I like the way it was before much better. IMHO, I think I'd lke yours with a Mint Guard and aged knobs and covers. ..

or all black.....

my two centavos

I do like the contrast better, but the pearloid would have been nice too.

I have a ZVEX Ringtone and LOVE IT. ZVEX is top quality stuff.
