Any of you guys who swapped out your AL pickguard interested in selling the original pick guard? Thanks.

I have no use for my original but, I think that they changed the pickguard on the AL around '95 or '96. I have a '94 and when I ordered the new one they shipped one that didn't quite fit and I had to send the original back so they could figure it out. I told them it was a '94.

If someone from EB can verify this I'd appreciate it, but yeah long story short, if you want it it's yours. As well as the p/u covers and knobs if you want those too.

An update for all of you who, I know, are waiting on pins and needles for this.

I have been toying with trying to get my AL to look "just right" to me.

I tried it with a white Ice PG and here are the results:

Didn't quite grab me the way I thought it would. Then I remembered that one of my fellow forumites who shall remain nameless (it was Schnook) suggested a tortise shell PG. Now, I never thought I would go that route - never really appealed to me. Then I decided, what the heck, why not give it a try? Here it is (and yeah - I love it! :D )

My AL has the tortoise guard and black covers. I like that look a lot. It also works well with cream colored covers.

I like the look of the black covers and knobs. Then again the white ones with a black guard would look cool too. Sort of a SRV vibe. Or tortoise shell....

Yeah, I think so too. All black would be cool (with white covers  ), but a little too stark and a little too "SRV" - I don't ever want anyone to get the wrong idea. I love SRV, but no way should I or could I remind anyone of him. I don't even want to pretend I'm in the same ballgame as him, so I'll keep clear of anything that might go that route. Plus, I really dig the torti!!!! :D

The white ice looks great, but the tort is the best!!!

How hard was it to swap out the pickup covers?

Beautiful AL mate :)

It's really not that difficult, especially if your just doing the pickup covers. Easiest way is to take off the whole PG (there's an awesome connector underneath that slides together so no soldering needed AT ALL!!) and then it's just a matter of unscrewing the pickups, changing out the covers and screwing them back on to the PG. Then, screw the PG back on and your done - very easy. I changed out my whole PG in about 15 minutes tops, once again - thanks to the excellent design/engineering of the EBMM crew.

OK - I now I get it

Everyone's allowed to make their AL look the way the way they want

Except for

ME :D :D

But in the end they still come back....
Color is always subjective to the viewer but, since you asked, I'm with Shnook here. I do prefer the black to the white pups in this circumstance because they go well with the dark outside of the burst. But I think the plain white guard is a little too stark for the overall look.

Now - if you tort that baby out with the black accoutrements- mmmmmmm thats good jam.;)

emphasis added....but the CIC is always right ;)

I'll be the odd person out here, but the white ice w/ black looks awesome.

As far as blending together, the tort and black probably match the best. I'm not a fan of tort guards in general, though.

White perloid with white covers looks good with a tobacco burts, imho.
