i went to Guitar Center to mess around last week and happened upon a loaded Pearl Redburst JP6. after i got over my excitement i went to play it. i found a Marshall half-stack and plugged it in and turned it up nice and loud.

played for 2 hours straight. DAMN . that is one NICE guitar. it's absoulutely perfect. the body is contoured just perfectly, the neck is so thin and feels so great, and the sound...holy freaking crap. i couldn't get over it. it was absolutely beautiful.

i don't think i can wait anymore till i get my own. if it wasn't for my lack of money, i'd have one right now.

The Petrucci's are nice aren't they? Best guitar I've ever played. I've got on order and can't wait. I hope you eventually get one and feed the addiction. Haha. Welcome to the great world of Ernie Ball Musicman guitars.

piezo is even better with some tweakage on the back

What did you do on the back to tweak it? Just curious. I know there's the mix pot, treble pot, and bass pot. What exactly does the mix pot do? Control the volume of the piezo when its mixed with the magnetic pickups?

Also wondering about the piezo... another thread about tweaking it showed that a lot of players didn't tweak at all....

Eegor, did you test out the piezo at all? That is the most amazing part of those guitars I think.

-Phil

yes i did. that's got to be one of the most amazing things about this guitar. it sounds so much like an authintic acoustic. i really can't get over how insane this guitar is.

eegor,

That guitar and colour was my first exposure to EBMMs too. I just couldn't put it down! I was hooked instantly, like it or not! :)

Especially when it is Stairway to heaven

I thought Smoke on the Water was the preferred classic! ;)

On the back of the guitar will be the Piezo preamp like this

Here's a close up view.

My AL has a volume pot on the front of the guitar. So my AL has 3 pots in total
Volume for mag pick ups
Tone for mag pick ups
volume for piezo.

You can tweak :-
the mix between the piezo and the mags,
the treble of the piezo and
the bass of the piezo

by turning the screws in the piezo preamp.

You may notice that I put a blob of tipex (white out) on the screws so that I could return the pre amp to factory defaults.

Now I know I am using the AL as an exanple - I would imagine that your guitar in question would be similar.
