i dunno ... i always assumed 700 watts would be a tad too much for home so i use a 15 or 50 watts combo at home and leave the 1/2 stack for band stuff ;)
I would only be using one cab so it wouldnt be 700, itd be 460.

The input pad (14db?) wouldm ake it quieter for home/dorm practice.

I'm always looking to upgrade my equipment unless I have to mortgage the house to do it. Here's a question for all you GK 1001RBII owners: Would I notice a significant difference as far as tone quality, definition, head room and all the rest if I upgraded from my GK 800RB to the 1001RBII or would the difference be minimal?
Next question: Are the Neo 2-12 / 4-12 cabs significantly better than my Hartke 4.5 XL series cab?
Right now I'm running a EV B-210 cab (300 watts @ 8 ohms) along with my Hartke 4-10 cab (400 watts @ 8 ohms) and driving it with my GK 800RB. I kind of like what I have but you guys are arousing my interest with all your praise of the 1001RBII and the Neo cabs. Appreciate any input.

Good question, BigStrings! My 1001RB-II sounds terrific through my old Hartke 410XL cabinet, but I'd love to hear what some GK Neo cabs would do for my sound.

Ive played through hartke cabs as backline gear a number of times. I dont have any problems with them actually. They are an average sounding cab IMO. Average to me, is that it didnt let me down at all, but it didnt leave me wanting to run out and buy one.

I mean no insult to anyone who uses Hartke cabs, but I feel that the GK Neos are on a much different level overall.

Whats the difference between the neo and RBH cabs in terms of the sound? I play in a classic rock band, and while I don't feel the need to recreate that exact sound, I don't want anything too modern sounding? Does that make sense?

I don't know if you would actually notice a big difference between the volume on the 800RB and the 1001RBII.I've played 8000RB's and they are VERY loud for their 300/100 watt power rating.Where you will hear a difference is in the dynamic range of the 1001RB which is much greater than the 800RB.The 1001RB11 has the 4/5 string button and contour/presence knobs instead of the 3 preset buttons( lo cut,mid contour,hi boost)on the 800RB.This gives the 1001RB a much wider range of tones IMO.You can still get the 800RB sound but you can also get much more.

For classic rock I would get two of the SBX cabs. They are sealed cabs and 2 of the SBX 4x10's would probably get you pretty close to an Ampeg 8x10 sound. You could also go 4x10-1x15 or 4x10-2x10 or 2x10-1x15.they are also very reasonable.....
