Hello!!

After the NAMM report I have to say that my GAS will not go to rest this year....

I like in particular the 2008 limited edition color, especially on the Petrucci model...

However.... WHY?!?! in 2005 and 2006 the limited color were great... then in 2007 came the idea of this... mm how to say it... this "200x LE" inlay on the 12th fret!!!

I don't know if I'm the only one her to think this, but for me it ruins the whole guitar!! :(

I like special inlays and I think the BFR inlay looks great and most of all... classy...
That's the point withe the LE inlay.. on a classy guitar like the Petrucci model it looks really cheap IMHO....

So pleeease drop this inlay next year!!!! ;)

(if some people agree of course.....)

Perhaps one of the other umpteen-thousand combinations might be good for you if you don't like this particular one.

I don't care for the date thing either, but I wouldn't say it looks cheap.

Poppa has never steered us wrong yet, to doubt how he and the company will do stuff is just silly.....

Have faith brothers (and sisters) it will all be well....

PS - Smelly just celebrated his daughters'1st Birthday and has had a lot of champagne so if the spelling sucks it's cause i'm a little squiffy.

Its for down the road when you go back and look at it and forget the year because you've bought all 30 other "limited" editions... lol

Dude, don't expect a nice response to any criticism of EBMM around here. Even a little thing like an inlay will bring out the wolves homie.

+1 @ casper

Some support from me. I don't like the LE-inlay either. Especially in comparison to the great looking BFR-fret jewel it does look cheap IMHO. I like most of the EBMM stuff, but never could get behind the enthusiasm for the LE models due to the inlay. I don't know why the whole inlay-issue is handled so stepmotherly from the EBMM-guys. Something like that can brush up a guitar dramatically.

Criticism should be fine as long as it is presented in a reasonable and polite fashion. It's a lot more useful than a forum where no one wants to say anything remotely negative out of fear of getting dog-piled by the mob.

Then by your definition this isn't a very useful forum. :D

If you don't like the inlay...put masking tape over it LOL

In the same way someone told me to put tape over the signature on a JP Baritone. Whatever it takes I guess.

If anything, BP should put 1967 on the twelth fret and call it a 'relic'. He'd get $4000+ each! :D

LOL thought "relics" were going for at least $5200.00 these days.

I did think of another way, become really famous guitar player, get endorsement from EBMM, design your own instrument without the inlay.
Yep I'm just full of useless ideas :)

Let's go easy here.

What you have is the manufacturers forum, so of course you're going to find people here rather enthusiastic about the product.

I think we can handle the idea that one or two people don't like an inlay or whatever.

I work as hard as I can to keep things on an even keel, so give it a chance and to the "wolves", let's not overreact to a simple thing.

Thanks.

I don't feel strongly either way. But on a practical level, it does make it tough to slide it past the wife. "This guitar? Nah, you've seen this one before, it's not new, I bought in...uh, 2008...":(

I found a bottle on the side of the road......I shook it up really good and out came a genie......

I was given one wish....

"make something that EVERY one on the planet likes......"

The genie said that was too hard...The genie went back in the bottle. If you find her make sure that you ask something easier like world peace or steel guitarist in tune

In the meantime we are going to do the best we can in offering as many things as we can to try to keep on keepin on
