Hey Guys,

So after a lengthy (9 year) relationship with Fender basses, they've let me down by not offering much at all in the way of lefties anymore. After much research and turmoil I've decided to pick up a Stingray 4, and luckily, MM looks to offer a range of options for me.

I've narrowed it down to; Candy Red with matching headstock, black pickguard or; Black with matchin headstock with either black or shell pickguard.

Does anybody have any suggestions, other than the obvious online shops or Guitar Center, about how to find what I want?

Also, I've found a leftie black with matching headstock with a white pickguard online. If I went that route does anybody know where I could find a quality (preferably MM made) replacement black or shell pickguard?

One more, can SR4 pickguards be used on left or right handed models, or would I have to find a specially made lefty guard?

Thanks so much in advance for any help you can provide. I'm really excited about getting one of these basses and can't wait to start my new love affair with the Stingray.

Welcome to the forum Jerzig! AND welcome to the Kingdom of Lefthanzia!

Pickguards can easily be ordered from EBMM customer service (the best in the business by the way) and you will have to order a left handed guard, they are not interchangeable.

Bass-Central is a good source for lefty MM’s, they usually have a few in stock and of course you can order exactly what you want from any EBMM dealer. Pete and several others dealers frequent here, they can hook you up.

I don’t work for the company or anything but I can testify that EBMM takes great care of us lefty’s. If I’m correct you can order any bass EBMM makes, any way you want it. The only options not available to us are the color “Stealth”, piezo pickups, and currently no two pickup SR4, SR5 or the Sterling. But the single pickup versions in all colors (except Stealth) fretless and fretted come in a lefty!

Bongo’s can be ordered with one or two pickups, HH or HS.

No other company I can think of takes as good of care of us lefty’s as EBMM

So again welcome and make yourself at home and have fun here. :D

I think you should just learn to play right handed, then you wouldn't have to worry about these things. Think about woodwind and brass players, nobody makes left handed saxophones or tubas. Just kidding :D

As a fellow lefty I will echo the sentiments of Psycho

I personally always use bass central for my Musicman needs . They've never let me down

The Perfect Bass has one on their site black with black PG maple board. No matching headstock though. Still quite a looker;)

First off, thanks so much to all of you who posted for making me feel welcome and helping me out.

Psycho Ward, I took your advice and just contacted customer service directly and I have ordered my pick guards (one each of black and shell). I'm also thinking of getting a custom red one to make it look like a black widow!!! Oh the fun I shall have.

I'm going to order the black with matching headstock (white pickguard, blah) SR4 from theperfectbass.com. Has anyone had any experience with them? .... any thoughts before I pull the trigger on that bad girl?

Thanks a ton!

Has anyone had any experience with them?

I have ordered some basses from them. Courtesy and a follow up call after shipment to make certain you are happy. Once had a problem with a case, long story and no fault of theirs, but I was happy in the end. Just ordered a Bongo from there 3 days ago;)

Okay so I just pulled the trigger!!!!

Long story short; the one I was going to order sold. I cried a lot, started checking around and it looked like all I could do was special order and it would take 6 months!!! But then Bass Central said they could get me exactly what I wanted in just 6 weeks. So I just did it......... and (god willing) if everything goes well, I will own my very first Stingray and join this wonderful family of bass owners!!!!

I can't wait! Thanks again for all of your help, guys!
