Plug In A Music Man Bass, Create Something, Post, Repeat.

This is a demo we made of live studio capture, all single take sing and play. All done with my SR5HS. It was the first formal situation I played any Music Man bass in so I didn't know what to expect. It's got some rough edges but close enough for its intended purpose.

You have some nice players there too. We did a very similar demo where we recorded all the music live, and over dubbed the vocals. Was a pretty fast and efficient recording process. We did 10 songs in one day. Some were partials, and some were complete songs. BTW that Avatar B210 is working like a champ.
 
Hey Gang,
I was dinkin’ around with GarageBand and found that it’s pretty simple to add bass to previously recorded live tracks, in the case that the bass wasn’t sounding all that great. This recording, the battery died on the d.i. Added my SR4, position 4 (inner coils), lots of effects!! distortion, wah, flange, phase.

Hope this link works... a gig in Ballard at The Substation. Haven’t played a live gig at a club in awhile... like, maybe the year 2000. Nothing has changed, though... three bands on the bill, two drink tickets for each member, and a whopping $16 apiece to validate our “professional musician” status...

MusicMan Caprice Bass(DR Pure Blues Strings), going through a MXR Bass Preamp, MXR Bass Compressor, Aguilar Chorusaurus, Electro-Harmonix Nano Looper 360, and finally a Scarlett 2i2.

I might have to tweak the mastering, but the mix is more or less what I wanted.

The bass was BP's 4 banger Bongo with Cobalt Flats through a Vox Stomplab into the mixer. Nothing complex but it sounded very much like I wanted it to and I only added a bit of compression afterwards.

The song itself - I just recently bought into this software-based recording paradigm, having been a tape guy for the last hundred years or so, and I just needed to DO something to learn how the program worked. I didn't expect this to be anything I'd share with the world, but it took on a life of its own and I ended up being sort of proud of it.

These people were guilty of collaborating.

Joe Gavito: lead guitars
Jim Buchanan: rhythm guitar
Chris Barham: stunt guitar
Jack Williams: bass, drum programming, keyboards, vocals

That's Robert Tilton yelling, "Go!" and a bunch of other noises that I've collected over the years. Technical notes: Mackie ProFx8 mixer, one lone Shure Beta Green microphone doing journeyman duties with occasional assistance from an AKG C3000 that I'm still trying to tame. Software is Reaper, which I'm still struggling to subjugate to my evil will. But I like it.

I would certainly appreciate any commentary. I also recommend turning it up LOUD.
