...in my head it's transparent pink!

oh yes please...I love pink

When I understood it right, the JP and AXIS stuff doesn't get together anyway, due dimensions. Wasn't it Lukes und AXIS that are interchangeable?

And by the way (I guess, I told this before): Some years ago, there was a guy selling a lot of LUKE parts (no, not Luke's parts :D ) on evilbay Germany, because the guitar had an "accident". I was about to purchase the body, because I like that contour and get a Silo Special neck for it to complete....but I had to learn, that neck doesn't fit the neck pocket 100%. So I left it....didn't want to create a monster

Let us play a little here, brothers....imagination is a wonderful thing, right ;)

I am with you Tommy and jump on a JP with an Axis neck as it would be my dream guitar. Hey we all know there is no CS but there is no harm in someone saying what they would like. My personal reason being I love how Petrucci likes his knobs far away from the bridge, as does Paul Gilbert and me.lol I know my reason, and that is because I rest my hand on the bridge and fan out my fingers when I pick as does Petrucci a lot, Gilbert picks with a closed hand so it would not matter where his knobs are. And the Axis neck is my favorite neck as it fits like a glove,I wish I could put it on most of my guitars.I have only owned 3 CS guitars in my life anyway, so I could really care less about there being a CS. But Sterling is always coming up with limited run ideas which to me is just about the same thing. Maybe if enough guys plant a bug we might see a GC run of a JP with an Axis neck.

Like beej stated BP has stated a few times that green does not sell, but I also like green especially Surf or Mint like on the AL or Basses, it just has that classic vintage vibe to it. How funny is it that no matter the guitar or company the color that did not sell or was a dud when the guitar came out, 20 years later is the color that is always wanted by collectors and worth the most. Maybe there's a lesson there -buy ugly.lol

I tell you what....there's a load of guitar players who actually like green guitars. But when it comes to buying, they buy the black or the red one, because their hard rocking friends will make fun about the green axe. :(

I know what I'm talking about....I had a green guitar a while ago, and had it for many years. Well, actually it was inbetween surf-green and teal, but still green, I guess :p

Yet they have made multiple runs of Dargies and they seem to be super successful...
BP & Dargin made them due to forum interest (i.e. "I'd buy one if they were green"). They did sell, but in small amounts. Ditto the Dargie II. So while they were popular on the forum, they're not really big sellers in general.

I posted a thread last year about the possibility of a Luke body and electronics with an Axis neck as a custom order and that thread didn't work out to well. The JP/Axis scale length difference (amongst other factors) will always be an issue.
I had one of those for a while ... really fun. I bought a bunch of spare Axis necks and put one on a Luke I owned. Neck pocket was the same size so worked well.

OK OK OK I would appreciate it if when the custom threads pop up that the regulars show patience even if it gets brought up weekly. Let the mods mod and let people post. If it doesnt interest you then move on Including you Zomby. I will repeat stuff with glee below!

First topic. Our signature guitars are just that. They are designed with the artist to be the perfect guitar for them. Unlike some companies they are EXACTLY what the artist plays. There are numerous stories of artists somehow either airlines or other needing their guitar and gong to a store pulling it off the wall and gigging. That has happened to all of the artists at least once...including EVH back when he was part of the family. THe repeated requests for the customization of the signature guitar displays a lack of understanding of what we do and why. That may be why some get testy. IF I put an Axis neck on it..it is no longer a Petrucci...One can dream but really I believe in the long run the credibility and integrity of the sig guitar must be first and foremost.

Green Guitars. Guess the first color to be discontinued in the classic series? You got it. Mint Green. Sea foam green to some of you. The most requested color on the forum. THat and coral pink are the two worst sellers in the series by a mile...or two. ONe again please understand that you guys are the addicted and diehards and what you want does not represent the market in nearly anyway.

as a general rule, green isn't a great seller. Special runs like the Dargie will sell cause they are limited to a 30 day window... My understanding is that the Green AXIS was the same way, a small ordering window back in 2000. I am thinking BP is talking about "green guitars" in general across the industry as something that isn't a great seller. How many green guitars do you see on the wall at GC? I've never seen a green LP... PRS is about the only company I have seen offer Green as "normal stock". I know other companies will do it, but for a company like EBMM green prob isn't selling enough to make it worth it to offer it as a standard color... although Mystic Dream has seemed to do very well for itself and the mint green HHAL is sweet!

I guess in the end green guitars are cool, but few people buy them... I've had 3 green balls and am considering purchasing a 4th (HHAL or a DDII Silo Spec at GC) so BP would prob consider me an exception to the rule... would be interested to see how many forumites have had as many Green Balls as I have...

Green was not a limited ordering window in 2000. It was a regular issue that didnt sell...same with the EVH green and it was bought back twice due to popular demand that turned out to be no demand.

Aw, man. I've been here long enough that I probably should have seen that coming.

BP Thank you for your comments. I am sorry if you or your staff was offended by this Thread of events.

To the Forum-ites:

- I was not trying to offend anyone with this post. This was not a Custom Shop request.

- I was only trying to make conversation. That was it. Nothing else.

- Trans Green guitars are cool

Good to know, guess the info I got when I ordered it was wrong... now to drive to Santa Barbara and find and find a "bloke from London" so I can smack him around a bit... and catch up... wonder if Joe's is still making a good martini???

Hey, u talkin to me? NY

Thanks BP I should have checked first, 25-1/2" (64.8 cm) for both. When I read this thread, I had a flash back to my custom neck swap thread that I posted over a year ago and I recalled a bunch of forum members stating that there was a scale length issue.

Why the cheap shot...everybody gets to express themselves You seem to pile on all the time.

I did "pile on" a few times,
You may refer to the recent tone? thread where people were all over him?
I just felt on both occasions I had to point out the intolerance of some.
The funny thing is that we seem to agree a bit since you say: "...show patience even if it gets brought up weekly. Let the mods mod and let people post. If it doesnt interest you then move on Including you Zomby"
I am not trying to tell you how to run your forum; no more then the people who post some "custom shop" or "dream guitar" threads are telling you how to build guitars!
You must do something right since I read this forum daily and find some extremely informative, interesting and even entertaining stuff over here.
Also I have (and am waiting for) six MusicMan guitars so I must like your work!
The only intention in saying what I said is to point out what is the weaker point over here.
Other than that, this is a real great place that I enjoy!

Just a personal opinion. Nobody should get hurt...

I can vouch for that - at last years Knucklehead bash I was helping out. We we at the hotel setting up. Me the Lemon and DaveB (what's happened to him?). Albert turns up together with the Jamiroquai lads. I had to go back to the exhibition and get an Albert Lee for Albert Lee ;) and I took it straight off the display. Albert played it at the bash totally "as is".

Tommy there is really no need to apoligize, as this made for a great thread. For me these are the best and most informative post, when guys speak what are truly on there minds and BP coming on to set the record straight about issues we really dont know about behind the scenes, and inside the company.I would never of thought mint/surf green was one of if not the worst selling color (honestly it is one of my faves) and the first to be discontinued in the Classic Series. To be honest now I am itching to know what colors are the best sellers. Also cleared up is the Luke and Axis having the same exact scale lengths but different neck pockets, but as beej stated he was able to switch, so it can be done. I also remember when that story about Albert that Spud told was originally posted, about him just taking a stock AL of the shelf and doing his thing just as if he brought his own, which reminds me of a true story that happened n my friends shop. That shred meister Michael Angelo Batio just popped in the store one day with his manager, which caused a crowd to gather. Anyway after talking for awhile the guys asked him to play but he said he could not because he did not have his guitar,-he plays Deans. The funny thing is my friend is a Dean dealer and there was a wide selection hanging on the walls, but he refused to play a guitar off the rack which caused a few guys to get twisted and his manager had to rush him out=tough crowd.lol I was not there but the story is well known. But when you seriously think about it that tells you all you need to know.
