All Rosewood necks have been used on high end guitars for quite some time. These are the only basses I've ever seen with a rosewood neck. At one time I had a PRS McCarty Rosewood. To my ears, on that guitar, the rosewood seemed to darken the tone a bit, emphasized the low and mid frequencies. This would probably make for a thunderous tone from a bass. The thing I liked best about the solid rosewood neck was the feel. PRS fans refer to it as "crackwood" because everyone who tries it is hooked.
