Possible Huge Trade Pending Need Advice

Hey guys, need advice. Jimi D used to be a regular on here (BTW JIMD says Hi), has two Axii for trade, one is an amber flame maple top (swamp ash) and the other is burnt apple swamp ash. one has mm9's the other , straight up humbucker's. Both guitars are MINT. He is also going to throw in a Zvex Box of Rock, Pigtronix Disnortion and Visual Sound H2O. From me he gets the Black Sapphire JP6 and an Ibanez J-Craft JS 1600. I should mention that both Axis guitars are fixed bridge. I have no problem trading the JS, although it is a beautiful guitar. The JP is troubling me, however I never play it. I seem to have fallen in love with the Axis, it's neck and the whole swamp ash thang!!!

give my regards to Jimi D as for the trade hard to tell but Axis Sport are GREAT guitars so don't think too much if you don't plays the JP6

I say go for it and don't look back.

I love the JP6, absolutely love it. The look, the sound, and I totally adore the playing of the man himself. However, when I tracked one down, I felt totally inept and a bit clunky!

On the Axis I just felt a little more inventive, a little more comfortable, and I though I was a teeny bit better sounding on the Super Sport as a result.

There's no bond with your JP6 axe? Get the Axis.

Worst case you miss it as a case queen, and get another along the line. Maybe even a limited edition run if and when they crop up.

Oh, and by the way, it was a fixed bridge that got me hooked too. A trem is just so underused by me. Maybe you've found your ideal.

Deal fell through at least now, JimiD's guitars both had a grove on the second fret, in fact all of his guitars do..funny story, I was able to trace that Trans Green Axis (see avatar) back to him, as it too has the groove, JimiD's got some huge and powerful mittens...until I can determine the effect of that grove I decided to hold off, after all mine are impeccable.

I've noticed that people in Toronto seem to strongly prefer the Axis necks. Must be an exchange thing....or the metric system.

Well he knows of a luthier in town and he is willing to add cash to the deal to repair the one or two frets that require it, so I'm on the fence...man I was really groovin on those axis guitars when I went and tried them...gonna have to have a few Mike's hard lemonade and rethink things I guess...

No man, it's because the Axis' neck has a good grip for them cold snow storms. that's why I wear my gloves, keeping my paws warm for my thinner JP6

When you first mentioned the trade it seemed like a no brainer as like yourself I also am not crazy for the neck on the JP which is the only neck in the whole line of guitars I dont gel with, and in actuality am just waiting for the right trade myself. I would not give up on the trade yet though as if there are only grooves on the second fret a good tech should be able to level things off where you will not need a whole fret dress on the guitars.

Jack, notice Raz is in Ottawa. Its close to Toronto.

Similar distance to you heading over to Chicago for take out.

Well I contacted a local guy who has a method of resurrecting the odd fret, other wise a whole refret would be required. I am going to try my Trans Green out, if that works, then I'll probably go for it. As far as why Jimi left, we didn't get into to it too much...

I agree, for me having a trem, is like having a 4 wheel drive, and living in downtown LA!!!
