OK first off I'm not out to insult anyone, nor do I wish to ruffle any feathers. This may have come up before but I have no idea how to go about finding it. I also want to mention that what I am about to say may have an impact on a few select forum members, of which I consider to be friends with, so please do not be offended, nor upset with this question.

This all relates to the new discussions on customer service, and purchases from music stores, where guitars may have been sitting long and have become neglected.

My question is then, why is there no direct online purchasing of guitars and basses from EBMM? I remember going to Steve's here in Ottawa, inquring about a Silo, and the dude had no idea what all the colour short forms and other nomenclature used meant...very frustrating...please don't hate me

i have no idea why

on the same topic i went to my local music store to inquire about ebmm prices
they are not an official dealer of ebmm
but they have ernie ball strings and such
and the guy told me
after searching through his catalogs for a while
'music man do not distribute to australia anymore'

-however i knew straight away he was full of ****
and never dealt with that shop again

my Guess ........
is retailers have enough competition between themselves...
the last thing they need is compitition from the manufacturers too !!!!
manufacturers typically focus on manufacturing......

Raz,

When you have dealerships in place, you can't sell direct and compete with your dealers without pissing them off.

Trust me. I write title insurance policies for two different insurance companies (we are an agency for those companies). We used to write policies for three companies, but one of the three started competing directly with us. Guess which one we're not writing policies for now? ;)

I think my whole point was by-passing the dealer, skipping the middle man...it's more of a hypothetical question...a "What If", if you will...BP's answer made sense, as an honest and relevant answer. Like I said in the title stupid question...

Raz that wasn't a stupid question at all. Just look at the few dealers who get what we are doing.

Now the standard ass covering. Many dealers are great with informative, innvolved salespeople with a wide range of our stufff;fgh[b00n w80[ajazfzidomdbam]osrhqrh zxba

Sorry my nose grew and hit the keyboard.

JUST KIDDING I LOVE MY DEALERS!

when i got my HS Sterling last weekend i can't say i was surprised at the dealer's lack of knowledge; whether it was re: street price, options, colors, features, other models etc. The guy was super cool and asked for my opinion of what other EBMM's to stock since me and Shamus cleaned 'em out this weekend :)

But the guy at the shop did seem like he "got it" after having dealt with me and Shamus the day before. He'd also become a big Bongo fan.

I had a similar experience at a GC a few months ago where i "made" a sales guy play the AL for the first time ever and he loved it and couldnt stop asking me questions about the AL and other EBMM models (... and he's the guy that works there LOL).

I'm no psychic but im guessing that some hands on exposure to the products will addict the sale folk as well; they do like guitars after all and EBMM builds awesome ones.

I guess I should consider myself lucky. When I asked my dealer if he had an Axis I could try out--any kind of Axis--he ended up going in back and pulling out a beaten up EVH, which was his personal instrument he used to gig with and had purchased back in the early 90s. He actually let me take it home for a few days! Every time I go in there, there are EBMMs on the wall. (In fact, there's been an AL that's been hanging there for well over a year. I'm beginning to feel sorry for it.) Here's a guy who knows EBMM. He even fixed my Axis SS piezo problem for free.
