I have a sky blue JP6 that I bought at the beginning of this year. I love the guitar especially the feel of the neck! My particular model does not have the SS frets. I've heard that all models produced in the later part of 2012 have SS frets which for me I love! I have 3 Carvin seven strings and they all have SS frets and I like them. If I pm a serial # would someone be able to tell me if the guitar has SS frets? It's a hard choice between this one and a JP13 but the feel of an unpainted neck feels better to me. Anyone out there have a JP13 seven and would like to comment on how the painted neck feels?

Painted BFR necks don't hinder my playing whatsoever, undoubtedly a well treated Maple or Rosewood Neck will feel smoother and easier to maneuver. But my JPXI-7 and JP12 both feel perfect to play on, I've owned a Mystic Dream JP6 before with a Maple Neck (And another special variant in the VERY near future ;) ) and I notice not difference to be completely honest.

I DO however notice the lovely Arm Cut on the Standard JP's, so comfortable. In regards to your specific JP, there's a thread I believe in this forum pinned up top where you can post your Serial and they'll let you know in a day or two when it was made, just ask if it has SS Frets or not.
