Hey guys.

A Y2D with Floyd has popped on the market locally, and I'm gonna take a look at it shortly.

As I'm totally unfamiliar with Floyd trems (never even played a guitar having one!), I have no idea what to look for to check if everything is in order with the trem. If you guys could give me some pointers, that would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Never played a EBMM with a Floyd, but have played *other* 'popular' brands with floyds, and based on that I'd say check to see whether the posts are in securely (not pulling up out of the wood or anything) and that there is no pitting of the metal on the Floyd (little dimples), otherwise they're actually pretty simple, and ot really that much different to a two point vintage style trem, they just look bigger! (well apart from locking of course)

I'm no expert with the FR trems so I can't give you much advise on what to look out for but there's one bit of info that might help making a decision as well...

There are two different kinds of Floyd equipped Y2Ds...as far as I know the newer ones come with a recessed / floating trem that will give you the possibility of lowering and raising the pitch. Don't know when exactly EBMM made the change.
With the older ones you'll only be able to lower the pitch so it's a matter of preference and playing style which option suits you better.

Thanks Casper and Coffee.

I think this one has the 'old' trem, so dive only. which suits me. I'll probably be locking it anyway.

the Y2D is a killer rock-guitar! my FR versions have a bit less mids as the hardtail version has, but this is with all of my hardtail/FR guitars, it´s just the sound of the tremolo system.
the FR version delivers a bit more "metalish" attack to the sound, overall a perfect guitar that suites may styles of music.
go for it!
