I too prefer the the Tech 21 amps to Line6 stuff... I've owned a Spider, two PODs, and I still have a GuitarPort, so I know what the Line6 stuff sounds like, and I've never been able to get comfortable with it either. To me, it just seems like there's a disconnect between the guitar and the Line6 amps that looses some breath or feel - it's super subtle, but it drives me nuts...
The Tech 21 amps are ANALOG, not digital; they just use an analog solid state circuit instead of tube circuit. As I mentioned before, my other amp is a "vintage" Fender Deluxe Reverb that is tweaked to perfection, but I have no problems finding tones that inspire me on my Trademark amps... The Trademark 60, in particular, is a very musical and subtle amp, and suits my needs very, very well.
I don't agree with radrock that the TM60 is "less versatile" than the TM10 or TM30... In terms of their design, the TM10 and TM30 are GT-2 pedals with a power amp and speaker attached - a very finely tuned power amp and speaker, mind, but that's it - and the TM120 is three GT-2s with a big amp and a couple of speakers... Anyway, they do what they do very well, and they are much, much easier to dial in quickly than the TM60 with their easy to use switches and very conventional tone stacks. But the Trademark 60 is a more complete amp, imho - with two channels and a radically powerful (if somewhat weird) interactive tone stack, there really aren't any tones you can't find in this amp if you take the time to listen... and, in fact, you are forced to listen to dial in the TM60 as there are no convenient types or labels to start from, which is probably one of the reasons I like it so much...
Either way, you really can't go wrong with Tech 21 stuff, imho... I've owned a lot of their gear over the years, and still own three of their amps and a Sans Amp, and everything's performed beyond my expectations. Great gear...
