Pre amp question

On the JP 13 and the Majesty, if you are already playing with a high gain setting, will hitting the pre amp for a solo just give you more gain or will it actually increase the volume?

Not sure on the JP/Maj but I have two L3's. If I am highly gained up I don't get as much volume boost as I do clean or low gain. It does add a little however

Volume boost before an overdriven amp or pedal will either increase the amount of gain or volume depending on how much gain there is on the amp or pedal it is driving. At high gain settings, it will only increase the gain. Conversely, at low gain settings (or clean) the volume boost will be most apparent.

Yep not alot of gain if already using high gain from your amp/effects.
