Hello everyone,

I use a Sansamp Bass Driver DI and a Dunlop MXR M-80 DI depending on my mood with a standard Stingray with a 3EQ. I find myself using this instead of a rig more due to recording or PA environment when going direct. Are there any recommendations for shaping with either unit I should consider?

Thanks

Not sure what you're asking. I use a sansamp BDDI into the PA, but I have my amp on stage too for a bit of volume induced adrenalin. I set the controls on the DI pretty much flat, depending on the room I may add a bit more treble. I have the blend at about half as it gets muddy any higher than this.

I used the sansamp di for about two months at the club where i play. I noticed that it was real boomy one night when i went out into the dance floor for my solo. After that I played w/ the tone controls alot, but the more i did that, the more my sound man had to work. About two months into using it, we opened for Tracey Lawrence and it came up missing after the show. The club told me to go buy whatever I wanted to replace it and I bought an Avalon. Troubles over. I play w/ ear monitors and i do have my rig onstage for side fill. I do miss my sansamp di for going direct into a board for some sounds in a session, but other than that, i hate em.

I agree with the previous post. I use in-ears and an avalon U5 with an optical compressor. this has solved my situation, I don't use an amp live, although the avalon can be used as a preamp into a powered cab like an EA wizzy.
I use the Bongo and SR5 and the tone just dosen't get any better live in a large venue.

Everything I have ever owned or used with the Avalon logo on it was great. Its pricey stuff, but dang sure worth the bread.
