It all depends on the guitar body finish and fretboard material. I tend to like natural headstocks with a maple fretboard.

Unless there's no choice, i.e. my BFR Luke and LE Silo Spec, it's always a natural headstock for me, and a rosewood fretboard...

I'm with you - unless there isn't a choice I'll go with the natural headstock, particularly with a maple fingerboard neck. Of course, I love the painted headstock on my LE Silo Special; it just seems to complete the look.

i think it depends on the color of the guitar, I think the BFR's look awesome painted, the rad red/black headstock looked great. Some guitars l've seen, were l hated if the headstock was painted/unpainted.

It's much of a muchness.

Scott.

Count me in. I prefer natural headstocks. Especially on EBMM guitars. All 3 of mine have natural headstocks. Painted headstocks look a little too blingy for me.

Matching headstock. Looks ok IMHO if the neck is maple and non matching, but I don't care much for rosewood with non-matching. Although I do have one of those. I would pay to have it painted in a heart beat.

I like both ... to me it depends of the fretboard wood and the body color.

Generally i like natural headstock on guitars with rosewood boards or with maple board and a light body color.

I'm a rosewood/matching maple/natural type of guy - and I love rosewood fretboards. The only natural headstocks I have are on my Blue Dawn Axis Sport and Blue Dawn AL - both maple fretboards.

I do have one maple/matching as part of the '07 LE package, and it looks great.
