I know this may be a dangerous topic based on policy to not discuss specific prices on the forum so feel free to delete this thread, but...has pricing for new EBMM basses gone down over the last 5 years or so?

The reason I ask is...Right around y2k or shortly after, I was in the market for a new bass. I was living in Chicago at the time and after touring the local GCs, I had my eyes on a Warwick due to the price and the fact that it sounded better to me than the other basses in my price range.

First choice would have been an EBMM, but for some reason I was thinking "Wow, that's really nice, but it's way out of my price range". A friend of mine had a Peavey Cirrus that he let me borrow. It sounded better than the Warwick to me and a new one was only two or three hundred dollars more than the Warwick, so I bought it.

This past March...I traded my Cirrus for my new SR5 at GC. I got it for the same price I paid for the Cirrus. Granted they knocked a couple hundred off the sticker price because they didn't give me near what the Cirrus was worth on trade, but I am baffled.

Was I having a y2k glitch or have the prices gone down? I guess I'm still kicking myself for not having gotten the SR5 six or seven years earlier.

I think it was more like eight years, but in any case, no, there was no price drop at the time you're asking about.

however. essentially anything is fair game as far as dealer price goes. however unlikely, its possible the dealer used to way overprice the MMs and now, even with a price increase on MSRP, the dealer has adjusted their price to a more reasonable street price which is lower. i doubt it, but its possible

Up here in Canada the price went down from a few years ago, but that's because of the exchange rate. Which means I got a great deal on my 2006 ltd SR5.
