That's definitely not the work of the factory - if you look closely, you can also see that the "compensation ridges" of the compensated nut, has been filled out, and filed (the "tech" apparently also got to the fretboard, as it shows filing marks). Also, the glue residue on the nut seems excessive.

Hey Ucuz,

Thanks for playing Music Man!

It looks like the glue line, not a crack but I could not really see it becuse the image is not clear and 3 of the links you sent did not work. Could you send a clear image in a smaller file?

Cheers,

Ucuz,

Changing the nut is not an easy task and we do not recommend customers attempting the repair being that there is clear over the side of the nut. We would re-spray the neck for a nut replacement. If you attempt it yourself and damage anything your warranty will become void.

We are more than happy to have a look at your guitar and understand that you are in another country but there is nothing we can do until it arrives at our factory.

Cheers,

Ucuz,

I forgot to tell you that we only make a 7 string nut, then we file off the extra slot to make it a 6 string JP nut.
You will need to do the same.

Never has a larger mountain been made out of a smaller mole hill. Honestly, I'm just tired of this thread. Whoever picked up that guitar from the dealer should have noticed the nut issue. You are fooling yourself if you think it left the factory like that. That's just absurd. How many more people need to point out the file marks? The residue? The scratches all over in that picture? The discoloration all around the string?

At this point, if you still believe it actually left the factory in that condition, no one minus a degree in Psychiatry can offer you any useful help. You bought a damaged guitar from via a third party to try and save money by circumventing the rules and not ordering from your closest legal distributor. Your third party let you down - not the factory. You've got to get over this and just get the thing fixed already. Enough whining - suck it up and get it fixed and then play the guitar, for christ sake.

It is very obvious that someone modified the nut. The guitar is not new. You can not blame EBMM for that.

It's your choice how you want to fix it.

The only practical option for you at this point is to find an excellent luthier who is able to match, or get extremely close, to EBMM's quality standards.

OR... you can mail it to the USA and have it repaired.

I know there's been a lotta dialogue here and there, but those are your options. Really.

mastercihan-

Please don't post your emails to customer service. We don't know the other side of the story, it's between you and them. It sounds like they couldn't see the picture at first. (It's very clearly damaged, and that is not the way it left the factory.)

If you had bought this in your own country, you would have a distributor and dealer that speak your language, who could help you fix the problem. What you did was buy a guitar in a different country that has been damaged, which circumvents their dealer network. But you know this.

At this point there's not much that Music Man can do. They have offered to repair the neck if you send it back to them, they have to have the guitar to fix it. As you point out, it's expensive for you to ship the guitar back to them. What do you want them to do? Is it fair that they should absorb this cost?

I think everyone here feels badly for you, but there's nothing we can do. You bought a damaged guitar from a store you can't return it to. As everyone has said, you have two options: either ship the guitar back to the US to get repaired or find a local dealer/luthier that can repair it for you.
