Hey BP, I was wondering if you could share what kind of ratio of 2 band EQ's to 3 band EQ's ships.

I find it strange that technically the 3 band is optional, but it seems to be more the standard out there. I dig the 2 bands more myself.

I think it's the other way around... 3 band is the standard, and 2 band the option:confused:
Not shure now.
I also like 2 bands myself.

being a guitar player, can someone explain why they'd go with the 2 band over the 3 band? I would have thought you'd be able to get the 2 band sound and then some with the 3 band?

As far as I understand, it's a different design-the 2-band is boost-only, and the three-band is boost-cut. So the two-band is closer to the "original" Stingray pre.

As a result, the tone of the 2-band is closer to that of the original Stingray, although I doubt you'd be able to hear that big of a difference between the two, and the three-band EQ gives you some added versatility.

Different strokes, as it were.

Yup it's a different sound. The 2-band has a darker sound, the lows are just deep and smooth. The 2 is what I prefer.
But you can't get the same sound from the 3-band...not setting the mid flat or cut, no matter what you do. To me the 3-band is just more brash on the top, more high-mids, real 'clickety'.

The 30th anniv StingRay did wonders to the 3-band though...the mahogany body put a big bump in the low-mids, more back to the sound I like.

The 2 bands and 3 bands are way different. I myself love them both, but do kinda favor the 2 bands. Its a much deeper, smoother tone. The 3 bands have more of that clicky tone like caca de kick mentioned. You can kind of get the a similar tone out of the 3 but not quite.
