I a pretty much in a new project today. I started watching for a DD since years, but haven't been able to found one, especially in France...
Si i had this old beaten up OLP luke in my rig.. Iv'e decided to customize the guitar. So

*New trem (where can i find a Musicman Luke trem?)
*Schaller Locking tuners with perloid buttons
*EMG SL20 Pickups
*Nut Bone
*Pizeo Bridge (saddles by Graphec)

And the paint. Dargie Delight... a nightmare to find something matching. I haven't been able to find a Color Shifting paint, so it wille be more like a dargie one... Here is the results. tell me what you think !

I love the colour! Good choice!

I don't think Music Man will sell you a trem on it's own. You'll find a Dargie Luke at the right price before you'll find a trem. And I don't know if a MM trem would fit the existing mounting posts either - plugging and re-drilling the holes could be necessary. Job for a luthier. I'd measure the existing post spacing and see what other manufacturers have to offer that will fit. Wilkinson make nice trems at a good price.

The locking tuners are Schaller M6. Again, I don't know if they'll fit your OLP without drilling or conversion bushings. Schaller make some nice looking trems too.

What Paint did you use? Looks really Good!
I doubt you'll get a Music Man Trem. But the Schaller Tuners should fit, I changed the Tuners on my OLP JP for Schaller M6 Tuners. If you're thinking about adding a Piezo System, I'd go for a Fishman Powertrem. That Trem has the Piezo Saddles built in, and it's not more expensive than a Trem+ Extra Saddles. I believe the EBMM Piezo's actually are made by Fishman

That is the perfect color. It came out great!

I'll bet that once you have the locking tuners, the original trem will work just fine. Did you also paint the headstock?

Yes Matching headstock. The first OLP Dargie Delight... lol
The paint was made by Stardust Colors, with black undercoat, after an Aluminium Base and tinted Clear coat.
The trem is good, but the saddles are cheap... I think the locking tuners will solve the problem you are right

here you go:

Can someone who owns a real dargie compare it to ? :) :)

I was thinking about doing that with my OLP JP a few Years ago, but I couldn't find a Color that matched the DD. Maybe I'm going to do it now. The JP DD1 is rare. I wish there was another Run with Roasted Maple Necks

It looks awesome!!

I think you're better off. Unless I'm mistaken, the original Dargie Delight paint doesn't color shift like the Dargie Delight II. I thought the original DD was green, whereas the DDII color shifted from green to a brownish apple color.

Kudos to you on a really nice job, I think it looks awesome! That is one tricky color to even get close to and you pretty much nailed it. Just a few words of wisdom= You got this far, so I would advise you not to be in any rush and with a little time you will more than likely come across the parts you need to get it as close to a real Dargie as possible.

Than you !
Sure there are some parts that need to be changed on an OLP: the saddles are cheap, tuners, pickups are bad...

i receive today my saddles and my tuners. :)
