I've noticed a couple different ways to restring this guitar due to the locking tuners. Was wondering if it's proper to wind the guitar string around the nut first then lock it down or, to just pull the string tight and then lock it, tune it. Thanks for the input.

Ps I'm sitting in my bed right now with a pack of open regular slinky wanting to restring the jpx so I'd appreciate a quick answer! Lol

Just pull it through to as much tension as you can and then just lock the locking tuner. Tune after and don't wind the string around the post. It would be a good idea to do string by string on that floating bridge...or block it so it stays sort if in its proper position.

What he said!

And don't cut the string until it's tuned properly ;) I didn't lock it properly last time and the string pop out. It was then too short to have it back in place.

Yeah, the idea is that you pull the string straight through the hole and as tight as possible before locking down. That keeps it only as long as it needs to be, reducing the chance of it stretching; improving tuning stability!

Word of caution though. I just string my first set of cobalts. This was my first time using the locking tuners. I must have tightened too much though, as the winding on the low e snapped when I went to tune it!
