Hi guys,

I have two back plates signed by John Petrucci that I want to keep on my guitars but I want to protect the signatures. Any suggestions on what I can do? They are on the control cavity covers for my JP6 and JP7 :)

Thanks!

put some clearcoat on it, i have 2 signed plates as well, one is in its case because i have a tremelno on it anyway, and i ordered another plate to cut a hole in to have access to the knobs while keeping it protected

so ya, just some clearcoat, which is basically just clear spraypaint

You could just take the covers off and keep them in the case. Other than that, I dont think there is a whole heap you can do really.

He's right this is probably your best bet. Plus it's on the back and no one can see it anyway. You should frame them or something at least you could show them off then.

I would personally remove the plates and replace them if you are gigging with the guitars, as sooner or later pieces of the sig will start missing. If you are just playing in the house I doubt you will work up enough sweat to mess them up.

Yeah, I'd suggest ordering new ones. OR, flip them around. I got JP to sign the inside cover for that very reason :p.

Stealth signature.
