Hey,

I just thought that I would update you all with my news!

Last month, I became a US Citizen!

I moved here in 2011 with my Wife and have found a great life here. I have found great friends and great musicians to play with.

So I made the decision to become a US Citizen and was sworn in last month!

So dear people of the forum, I would like to announce I am now a proud American!

:D

Congrats Tim, that is awesome!! So do you have dual citizenship? I know some countries make you renounce your previous citizenship, my friend and co-worker became a US citizen but also still has his Danish citizenship.

Again Congrats

I am a dual Citizen, by the US Government only recognizes US Citizenship now.

Thank you! Proud to call myself an American!

That's great bro, I really mean it congratulations. It kind of blows me away when I talk to co-workers and neighbors who have lived in the US for over 20 years and really have no intentions of obtaining citizenship.

Eric, I've lived in France for 15 years and have no intention of obtaining French citizenship. :)

In news of my own, Bridget and I are PACSed (that's the French civil union). We'll get married eventually but families in two countries and living in a third meant a party is difficult to arrange an we decided to do this for the moment. Happy days!

Congratulations, Tim!!

Some people are happy to live in their own mediocrity ! :p:p:p

(I was born with 2 nationalities ... but one of my countries decided to commit seppuku  Thus now, I'm just French)

Fair enough Kev, I take it from the smiley that you took no offense. Many of the folks I was thinking of lived here since they were children and don't even really know their home country.

Great stuff Tim. When my Aunt was alive and I visited her in St Louis her family were taken aback that she could sing all of the American National anthem. Get learning Tim!

Offense? Nah, never even crossed my mind, Eric!

And François, the French are great (really, they are) but I'm not French and I'd feel like I was pretending. I love both our cultures but I can only be one thing. Although in my case that a half-American, born in England, Irishman. :D

Congrats Tim, that's great! You sure didn't mess around with that eh?

**quick story**
My Wife and I met our friends Mother for the first time and when she asked my Wife where she was from, my Wife responded "New Mexico". The Mother replied, "Oh, how long have you lived in the United States?" We were silent for a bit…

Congrats!
My wife and I love visiting the U.S and if we could live there I reckon we'd change citizenship in a heartbeat.
I dislike England more and more as it rapidly fills up.

Edit: I'm typing this from the island of Madeira which is lovely!
