Yellofury,
Hello and welcome to a new forum member, who, like myself, is from Tampa Bay. My band "Stormbringer" plays here locally full time; maybe we've met. Hope you'll enjoy the forum.

"rappa29" who also posted in this thread is from the Tampa Bay Area as well.

Could someone please explain the differences between a 2 band and 3 band eq? I of course know a 2 band is just bass and treble but I don't understand how this affects overall tone. I'm in love with the new colors and am saving up to buy a sterling but this has been bugging me a lot.

With the two band EQ (bass and treble), each band affects a broader (wider) frequency range. This means the boosts are less "surgical" but they're very smooth/large sounding. When you boost the bass control, the sound gets *really* fat. When you boost the highs, the result is very smooth sounding... similar to using a high shelf EQ vs. a high peaking type EQ.

thanks bro!!
I have been at TB (the forum and well also Tampa Bay too) but never had a reason to lurk here until now

I just traded a few basses for a later model SUB with the compensated nut.

After playing a few Stingrays and Sterlings I was taken with the level of craftsmanship and tone. When my friend got a Bongo i was SOLD!!!!

So after reading this thread, I emailed GC and asked if\when they'd be stocking any of the EBMM Classic series Stingray 4 or 5's online or at brick and mortar.

They replied that they weren't and that they'd be special order only?

HUH? I have a feeling the 'product specialist' had no idea what I was asking about.
While I appreciate the great prices at GC and the occasional GC only specials that surface, the CS staff really needs to learn to say when they just don't know. As has already been said elswhere in this forum people have already bought Classic series basses at GC.

Me, I'm probably getting one through Basscentral. I like to put money into Louisiana any old way I can.

Bass Central is in Florida. ;)
I might just drive over there and check them out when they get them in.

Hi,
I am so glad everyone loves the basses. They really are very cool... However, just to clear up a few things about GC. The basses will be featured in Guitar Center's Feb Buyers Guide. The stores have basses in stock right now and will have many more coming in. 4s, 5s and Sterlings will all find their way into GC stores. Please just call your local store and i am sure they will be as helpful as they can be.

If you don't mind, could you please give me the email address you sent the question to. I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Best,

Glen

FWIW, The local GC here in Columbus had two of the new Classic Stingrays.
The Mint Green with Rosewood... and the Classic White with Maple.

The Classic White with Maple went home with me. ;)

Like the 2-band preamp! Broader tone control... that works well with the SR.
Didn't know how I'd feel about that until I played it. (Only owned 3-band SRs prior)
Setup and intonation were absolutely flawless.
This one doesn't have the figured/birdseye neck... but it's still fantastic.

I think it's taboo to mention exact cost... so I'll refrain.
But I got a deal *way* too good to pass up.
Sign me up... I'm a full fledged addict.
Does that Dr Drew guy have some sort of GAS rehab program? :)

congrats on the bass...
It looks like a beauty!
