It's a very unique color(s), Fall sunrise, or something to that effect(it's since been discontinued) . Basically a sparkle sunburst...very cool with a matching headstock. Ever since I saw Albert live and close up a few years ago, I knew that I had to have one! When I lived in Calif. I used to drive by the Ernie Ball plant in SLO quite a bit. Never thought that I would ever own one...but glad that I came to my senses!

Got any pics? It's the same colour as my Silhouette Special I think, not sure why they discontinued it!

That's it...a very unique and cool look. I don't own a digital camera yet(spend too much money on guitars)!!
BTW, San Diego is my hometown and I just moved here from Escondido last year...got a job I couldn't refuse. Cardiff is one of my old stompin' grounds, as is Carlsbad. I really miss the beach. :(

Oh I dunno... maybe they'd sold a guitar to every bordello in the country and the market dried up? :D

Possibly you're right...It takes a man to be comfortable in his heterosexuality to play one of these babies, they're not for everyone...you stick to your sunburst if it makes you feel better!!;) :D

P-Man! That color is awesome!!!

Hey Ratter,

Yeah the colour is great. Not something I would have neccesarily gone for but I got a good deal on it so what the heck! I think you've gotta go with a bit of glitz once in a while. It's not a colour I'd want my 59 Les Paul in, but guitars like the Silhouette and Albert Lee aren't beautiful in the traditional sense of the word, they're quirky and I think the colour matches that!

Still thinking over the pickups, the more I think the more options come to mind the more confused I get! But thanks for your great advice, it definately gave me some food for thought as well as confirming a few of my own ideas,

Best Wishes,

Pete:)

Well, I'm proud to say I'm joining the ranks of Albert Lee slinging, honky-tonk singing, barn-burnin' country-shred wanna-be's with my own substantially more reserved Albert sig guitar I just picked up from a fellow Canuck on eBay... Check it out:

My newly purchased Albert Lee

Very nice!! Not as flashy as mine, but nice anyway! :D \
I'm thinking about putting some Tele knobs on mine too...mine has the Strat style ones on there now. The shafts on the pots are slotted, so I don't know if it'll work right...

Alright, I'll hand it to you, that's pretty sweet as well! That neck looks stunning! If the guy was willing to ship to the UK you might have had some competition on that bid!

Enjoy it,

Pete:)

Ya, I don't know when they went to the Tele style knobs on some models, but I think it was recently - my Axis Sport has these style knobs, and the shafts are smooth and solid, whereas my other two Axis's have the Strat style knobs on slotted, ribbed shafts... I kinda prefer the Strat style myself, as I like the visual numeric reference on the tone control (which I use rather a lot), but I'm not antsy enough about it to bother changing out the pots...

Ya, the neck looks nice... I was a little hesitant to buy it as quickly as I did, but I didn't want anyone else to jump on the "Buy It Now" and steal it out from under me, so once I found out the seller is actually a reasonably well known player in his neck of the woods, I grabbed it...

I haven't sen any changes in the knobs to be honest...
My Axis Sport and newly acquired Albert Lee both have Tele style knobs... I know they come this way stock, because I bought the Axis Sport brand new, and you can see them on this page for the discontinued Sport:

EB/MM Axis Sport spec page (discontinued)

The vast majority of EB/MM guitars seem to have Strat knobs - I was just thinking that it seems like there's no rhyme or reason to the Tele-knobs you see on the odd guitar... (maybe they just ran out of slot-shaft pots in the factory on those days? ) Not that it really matters - just idle navel-staring really :D
