For somebody who is OCD with his controls, watch Derek Trucks. He has his super reverb cranked and uses his volume as gain, basically. His tone speaks for itself.

Me, I'm constantly messing with mine...with much less stellar results, I might add.

Holy mother of god! Just watched Derek Trucks. There are just no words. I've never seen anything like it.

Pickup switch check - check!
Closing my eyes during fast passages - check.

And oh... I always end up, subconsciously, finding (without even realizing I was looking for it) something on stage to rest my left foot on.
