Allright people, so me and my brother finished putting in the pair of BREED Pups. I restrung the guitar and everything is good. The freakin Silo sounds like a BEAST now. I like more of a kick in my pick ups. I liked the Virtual PAF sound, but just not for what I play. And the people that were telling me to change pots, I dont like 500 K as much as 250. I personaly feel that with 250s, there is more dynamic control over the sound and output, I guess a wider range and it cleans up more than with 500 Ks. So I have been lucky once again with my PUP change and will not be changing them any time soon for anything else. I would recomend to anybody to put the pair of BREED DiMarzio PUPs into their Balls, if you want a more punch but versatility as well. Works very well with the stock single coil PUP on the Silo.

P.S. If anybody wants a pair of Virtual PAF DiMarzio PUPs just PM me. I'll give you a decent price. I have no need for them anymore, and I do want to get some money back because I paid a good amount for the BREEDs. They are in perfect condition, and they will be in the DiMarzio case that came with the BREEDs I have, plus the screws and also the Allen wrenches. Peace out, Now I'm gonna jam for a long long time!!! :D ;)

Congrats on the new found sound that you love..

I couldn't bring myself to do something like that to my Silhouette....... I just got it, and I don't want to mess with it...... I should buy one on e-bay THEN do that... that sounds like fun.... hmmmmm. *searches the bay*

Hey Warg. Well it's really not that big of a deal. I was paranoid at first that something might get messed up, but it's fine. My brother NEVER worked on a guitar before, but he has been soldering theings since he was like 6 years old. It was actually a very fast process. I definatly trust him doing work on my guitar than any tech in NYC that I dont know. I have been to like 3 different ones, and 2 out of 3 messed thing up for me. One time I had my guitar set up to 10's and the duche bag cut the nut too deep and there is string buzz on the open strings. The other tech was in another place, and that duche bag changed PUPs on my guitar, which was fine, but he F'd up the volume pot by over heating it and I had to get that replaced. So you see, this made me want to do everything myself.

Hey Dcareaga. They are quite different. MUCH hotter, but not that insane. The Virtual PAFs are more of a vintage traditional 70s kinda pick up I guess. However OC claims that they will deliver more punch if you put 500K pots in the geetar. But I like 250Ks with hotter PUPs like my new ones. I have not played them long enough yet but I already love the sound. I actually like them more than the Steve's Special and Air Norton which I have in my other guitar. But than again it is also a VERY different guitar. It is Ibanez with mahagony body and neck through. However the BREEDs are still versetile in the Silo if you keep the single in there and use 250K pots. Turning down the volume and tone pot gives you more of a vintage sound, and the coil splitting with the single sounds pretty freakin awesome. If I ever record something I'll post for you guys. I am meaning to record some things, but never seem to have the time to do that.

250's like single coils more...and roll off the highs so you're not getting the full monty so to speak out of the humbuckers....pot mod, being just a few bucks is a better alternative to a full blown swap..at least first. I was always intrigued as to why Silos come stock with 250s on the HSH models....anyone got an answer? 500ks will give you a wider tonal range...

Prob'ly cause the in-between positions would be too bright w/ 500k pots, so for balance the 250ks are a good tradeoff. Some humbuckers are voiced to work well with 250k pots, too- I'm assumimg the original PUs are like that.

Virtual PAFS....modeled on 58 or 59 original Patent Applied For pups....so I think 500k's would be closer considering...in fact tho' since you got more bucker than single on the HSH I'd definitely go with the 500k's....thats more than enough to solve most people's dislike since the Virtuals and Breeds are kind of close save that the VPAFS are lower out put and lower string pull...best example: Jems they have 50k pots in them and a single in the middle...

Ya, fair enough. I'm like you OC- first thing I often do is swap out the pots (or in a resistor/cap or two) - cheapest mod to do. Anyway, I'll assume EB has a reason for going with that setup.
