Yesterday ..he described this guitar to me as not having any nicks, scratches, dents, dings...ect. He said it was barely played and like new condition. We agreed to a price and I DROVE 2HRS to pick it up... btw he knew I was driving that far. I get there and he opens the door and says.."oh btw..I did find a nick on the front of it." I open the case and what a pile of garbage.! The neck looked dry rotted. I found two big dents at the top of the headstock. Numberous scratches and nicks on the body, rust on the floyd.....and that was all found within 15 seconds! I am sure I could have found more. Also the quilt top was really dull and looked like it was painted on, if you know what I mean. I was fuming and could do nothing but walk out. I contacted him after I calmed down. He made NO appoligies... or nothing. At that point I said...look.... I just drove 2 hrs to get there and now have to drive another 2 hrs to get back. It has cost me a half a day and 40 bucks in gas to get there....AND...you could have called at anytime and stopped me from making the long drive. It would be nice since it was 'your mistake' to at least split the gas. He says "sorry...no gas" Thats the only response I have got from this clown. MAN..I am pissed...! NOW...he has the junk back on ebay and fails to mention the true condition of the guitar. This is where I wish I had a bogus account and could leave him some neg feedback...or something. Sorry guys... I dont mean to vent but I mainly wanted to warn you guys and let you warn others that may have been looking at this guitar. Again...sorry!

Did you seriously expect someone to cough up gas money for you? I would've been upset too...but expecting someone to cover your expenses? That too is worthy of:

:D I guess thinking about it with a clear head does sound kind of silly. LOL...I can believe I told him that. :p I should have busted the guitar across his head and I probably would feel a whole lot better....jk. I guess I am mostly mad at his stupidity .... and I know that nothing can be gained from it. A sorry or something would've been nice. You know... I am a very honest guy, I treat people well and expect that others are the same way... I guess thats my fault... and a lesson learned...??

Here is the response I got from the seller regarding condition (rash, dings, nicks, and rust).

"No buckle rash, only played about 10 times. There is a very small nick at the end of the headstock and a very small ding below the tone knob. Both probably can't be seen in a closeup photo, but if you're serious send me your email address and I'll send you the closest photo I can take. No rust, but a couple very small bubbles on the whammy bar."

Sorry to hear this story but for this sort of money you could get a brand new 25th that is the ultimate Axis/Evh just my 2 cents

You do strange things when you are seriously upset.....If any of you had driven for two hours and paid for gas to get there a seller that seems to have lied through his teeth about the condition of the guitar (no doubt thinking that if someone has driven that far then they'll have it regardless) - would you just be asking for half the gas money? I wouldn't asked for gas money - but I'd probably be looking for a lawyer by now. If it is a forumite and this story is genuine - don;t be asking Rat to curtail his understandable frustration - instead perpetrator should be advised that this ain't cool and not how we do things here.

Looking at the listing the guitar looks ok...but without closer inspection i would be miffed too if it ended up being as ruff as you say it was...Purple has never turned me on as a color of 1st choice(sorry just personal opinion) people peobably feel the same way about my Pink Burst BFR but .....it does look faded as in maybe it was in a store window in the bright sun for a while which may explain the faded look you described sure had that look to me anyway.

Buy a new locking Axis and and make it your own is my suggestion:).

Buying an EVH is more of a collectable then a players guitar. Most people would just leave it in its case and let it grow in value. That’s no fun, you wanna get a player.

I agree with some other comments that you should use the money for a 25th or an Axis. You can’t go wrong with either of those.

Dealing with anyone on ebay is a crapshoot and I would say most sellers have integrity...then there is the guy you dealt with. I dealt with similar idiots when I was selling my bass a couple months ago...it's the rotten few that spoil it for the masses sometimes.

A 2 hour drive is a pain in the ass, at least now you know...walk it off and put your resources in a player as previously mentioned. An Axis, Axis Super Sport or a 25th is an excellent way to go for the kind of money you were willing to pay for that EVH.

THANKS BRAND X!! Believe me...I felt like doing and saying a whole lot more. It could have been worse... I had a Guide in Utah have me fly out for a hunt... only to cancel after I flew to Vegas and drove the rest of the way to Utah... Now that day I was really pissed...lol.... They still never found that jerk.... (just kidding). :D

Yeah I seen his response at the bottom of the listing. At least he is being about 50% honest today. You can go under the ended items and see his response yesterday. Plus I talked to him on the phone prior to emailing him about 5 times yesterday before driving that distance. It was brand new yesterday
HERE was the Listing

I may just have to break down and check a Axis out!

If I remember correctly, you are the guy with the nice evh collection right? Some real gems. I have no problems with collectors. Yes a guitar was made to be played but once it's bought I am not one to tell someone what to do with it. I believe we have a purple flame top evh at one of our stores if you want me to look into it. I'd recommend getting an axis as your player and keep collecting your evhs. I collect things too. Luckily I chose zombie movies and zombie comics so the expense is relatively nominal...

Nm. The purple is obviously fading on ours. From what I understand the fading was due to the dye itself, not from exposure... Hence the discontinuage. Although ours is cheaper than what he's asking.

rat: IF (and that's a big if) i were collecting EVHs, i'd check the GC's out. seems like a good deal, except if fading is an issue.

otherwise, get a BFR axis or a 25th :p :D

I actually was just trying to add a purple to a collection.. I know it is kind of silly to have a guitar just sitting around....thats why I sold my last purple..
I actually have a couple great playing guitars but I will look into some of these others. I actually do want a nice axis. If anyone has one please pm me.

BTW... I see where someone informed this Homosforless seller about the VH post... He made a comment on the bottom of the listing and now the guitar is not perfect. Before I drove out there he couldnt find a flaw on it...it was like brand new...!!!.. and he looked it over a few times....!! Guys like that ruin my trust in buying on ebay...! Thinking about it now... Im kind of glad I did drive and didnt pay thru paypal or have it shipped.. Id be in the middle of a dispute right now.
