Just found this thread, so I'm going to be brave and try posting my first ever pics here. However, I'm not the most photogenic subject 
First one is at Colchester Free Festival in 2001 with my band Men In Spex
Second is with Men In Spex playing on the back of a truck in Stanton, Suffolk: that is one of my trademark "duh" bass faces
Third is another Spex gig playing the pub in Winfarthing, Suffolk
Fourth is the mandatory TL photo, at the bass workship in Hitchin UK in 2007. Top bloke.

I think it's just the bright lighting. Pau Ferro is lighter than rosewood, and a the right light could make it look like maple.

Davey, that's a helluva great photo.

sorry i didn't see this earlier! yes, maple neck, a conversion i had done here in portland oregon. they did a smash up job, i use flatwounds, play the crap out of it, and have had the neck 'dressed' twice, hundreds of gigs on it. i know maple isn't the 'best' fretless surface, but it has taken a beating, and is holding up fine......
