I walked into my local G***** Center to look at SUBs and I just happened to come across two that were marked down to $499. An teal/active and red/passive. I plugged both in, took the teal one upto the assistant manager, whom I'm cool with, and with $40 down, Its in layaway.

Looks like someone is gonna be picking up some doubles at work.

THey just saiod theyre clearing out certain colors. It should keep me entertained until I can manage a Stingray, and then serve as a nice backup.

change the pickguard

xcental34x--

When you get your SUB change the pickguard to something that doesn't look like it was carved out of the side of a railroad car. Or maybe one of the loading ramps off the back of a UHAUL. I don't know....

If you get just a nice plain white or black pg I think it would look cool.

I happen to like my corrugated metal products off of musical instruments.

Your thoughts and feelings about this? If the SUB looked more like a stingray I may have been smarter financially and got one...

I'm kindof surprised that the SUBs come with those things on them. Does anyone really like that look besides Trent Reznor et. al.?

Sport Utility Bass. I guess them metal thingies are supposed to give off that "rugged" look to appeal to the X-Treme sports demographic? In any case, I'm not really turned off by the SUB pickguard - it goes quite nicely with the textured finish.
