Hi guys, I'm a "new" Majesty 7string owner. I've actually had the guitar for many months now and it rocks! :)

It's coming time to finally change the strings (I'm lazy). My Majesty (2015 production) came with 10s installed, which was a surprise as the website said it came with 9s at the time I purchased it. No big deal, but I bought many packs of 7-string Super Slinky 9s at the time that I want to burn through.

Anybody have any warnings/tips/thoughts on converting from 10s to 9s? I guess the reason I don't just jump in and do it is: Am I "undoing" the reason the factory spec switched from 9s to 10s? E.g. will I be losing the calibration of the compensated nut?

Also, secretly, I don't want to go against the word of the almighty JP! ;)

Thanks!

Other than adjusting the tension on your trem springs, there shouldnt be a problem. Just lossen the screws holding your tremelo springs a bit and try leveling it out again.

Hi, I changed the strings on my Majesty to RPS .009's soon after I received it. No problems, just adjust the Tremolo Springs, Check your Intonation and you're ready to go.

7 strings with 9s the low B will be a little loose, I'm using 9s in my Jp12 and it's awesome but a little extra light comparing to my other guitars, and my JPX with 10's is very comfortable even though I'm a 9s guy due to some tendinitis I developed in my wrist.

Based on my experience and factory specs I think the JPs are more suited to 10's, the tension isn't heavy like a strat with 10's.

JP goes back and forth from 9s to 10s it seems... I recently decided to switch to 10s (10-56) - but I still have about 8 sets of 9s to burn through :(

I just like that you can play harder on 10s without it going out of tune on the harder 'pluck.'
